For 3 DVI-derived ports, you will need an active DisplayPort-to-DVI adapter.

A couple of notes on these outputs - if you already have some DVI-ready monitors and are looking forward to triple monitor support you might be disappointed to learn that the DisplayPort connection requires an ACTIVE adaptor to be converted to a DVI connection. The adaptors are also expensive (around $100) and are pretty hard to find right now. AMD says they are trying to address this but short of selling their own version I am not sure what pull they have in this regard. Converting from dual-link DVI to DisplayPort, if you have more than one DisplayPort monitor, is a much easier task and only requires a less expensive passive adaptor.

Aha, now we have that pic! If you look at that adapter, you'll see it isn't just a simple DisplayPort -> DVI adapter that's passing a DVI signal carried by the DisplayPort cable to connect to a DVI monitor. What that is doing is actually *converting* the DisplayPort signal to a DVI signal. For this, it requires power - and you can see a power lead going into the little box.

Hence, Eyefinity will work with 3 DVI monitors if you have a DisplayPort -> DVI *converter* for one of the monitors.

I should have read more about eyeinfity xD

I can understand it not working above 1680*1050 cos of the limits of DVI but why cant the card run 3 x 1680 on DVI but just not go higher? that has to be software or card firmware related as TH2G managed it.

EDIT: Epic find Typhoon!!!!!!!! Now to try and find out where I can get one of those bad boys!

Good spot! I have to say i was very keen on eyefinity maybe so keen my eyes just didnt see all the nonsense about DP ;)

The DP adaptors should become way more readily available if they actually work as now there is a real good reason to manufacture/sell them. I posted in the OCUK suggestions foruma bout them a couple days ago, no response yet...

I don't mind as my monitors only go upto 1680. I'm wondering if a DP to DVI/HDMI cable would work? Or would that have the same issue as using a non-powered DP to DVI adapter? Still struggling to find them in the UK, only Mini DP Apple ones... Maybe Mini DP to proper DP converted to DVI? :P

Does anybody know the maximum res eyefinity supports? I can't find it anywhere. :(

Also for the bezel nay sayers look out for new samsung monitors with ultra thin bezels for multi monitor setups in the future.
