5870 Needs 2 monitors DVI and 1 Display Port

Yes it will work its in 1 of them reviews with 3x dell monitors.

Can u link the review plz?

Is that the 470-10983 thats in one of the reviews. I'm stuck two ways with this, first off need a particular adapter to use Eyefinity and secondly my TH2Go will not work at 5040x1050.

Do u mean ur TH2G wouldnt work with the 5870 at 5040x1050 but it does work with the GTX 280?

I've sent mine back, I could not find an active adapter anywhere and it doesn't work with TH2Go either. The GTX280 is back in at the moment but think I'm going to take a punt on a GTX295.

Prior to ATI's last drivers ATI cards could not work at full res of TH2G 5040x1050 (limited to 4320x900 I think). However a recent firmware update of the TH2G digital made that possible. Was ur TH2G digital? Did u update the firmware?

Yes it was digital and it had the latest firmware, others have confirmed the same problem.

Yes the GTX280 does 5040x1050.

That seems like an ATI drivers issue then, if u wanted to try to solve it you could try trawling the widescreengaming forums relating to ATI max resolution/not displaying 5040.

I think in about a month we will have decent drivers for the 5870 and officially supported DisplayPort -> DVI connectors so Eyefinity will supersede TH2g anyway.

Just confirming this - the 5870 cannot work with TH2GO Digital to achieve 5040x1050. Not sure if the problem is with the Matrox unit, or the ATi drivers yet.

I've contacted Matrox who told me they hadn't had chance to certify the 5870 yet (ergo, unsupported/not compatible). I've heard comments that the current 5870 drivers are very fresh and not complete and are missing some resolution options. Hopefully it won't take long for a 5870 to work with TH2GO correctly.

So far, progress is being made on the WSG forums and one guy has an active DVI-Displayport adapter arriving soon.

I'm asking Bizlink (manufacturer) if they have a channel available in the UK yet.

I'm eager to go Eyefinity, but really don't want to shell out £400+ for a 24" DP monitor.

I'm hoping the active DVI-DP adapters are going to be ~£50, but knowing our luck in the UK (and the diving pound), it will be more like £100 :(

I contacted the manufacturers of those active DVI-DP adapters (Bizlink) and they say they are setting up reseller(s) in the UK, but it's 1 - 2 months away.

They pointed me to a US site that ships internationally, but once the shipping + tax is added on, a $100 adapter comes to over £100 (even when ordering three at a time).

:(

At that price, it would probably be better to get the 24" Dell for £450 instead of a 'standard' 24" at ~£250.

1-2 months isnt so long, especially if it means the 2GB versions will be out by then as these will hold their own at 5000+ res.

If u want it to work now tho, ur £450 idea is probably best, wont work for me as i have 3x 2009w :( so will have to wait for the adaptor.

OCUK GET TALKING TO BIZLINK PLZ ;)

question:

anyone reviewed eyefinity with 5 or 6 30" monitors in portrait? full 2560x1600 res per monitor? so, 8000x2560 if 5 monitors.

Hmm I was wondering about all these resolutions? Do you need an adapter if you are running 3 monitors at just 1680x1050 as most people seem to be saying that you only need adpaters for higher. I'm probably just reading that thread wrong which is confusing me greatly!

So if anyone knows if I still need an "Active" DP-DVI converting for 1680x1050 please reply :)

that would be a weird configuration, id like to see pictures if anyone has reviewed this!

the Hocp video has 3 24" (i think) in portrait and it looks better IMO. 5 would be the ideal setup i think (thinking about it, 6 would leave a bezel in the middle).

Yes. You must use Displayport for at least one monitor and the passive adapters don't work.
