6700 XT Owners Thread

Despatch notice anticipation kicking in. Can't wait for it to arrive, was hoping to get it today and get it in and sorted tonight.
What's the best software to clean my system from the nv drivers? I know TPU doe nv clean install but does that wipe drivers all together?

I used DDU in safe mode when I got mine.

going back to 3060Ti, what a turd of a card. Stuttery mess, clocks all over the gaff. Will never touch AMD again.

edit - Reinstalled the 3060Ti, everything back to smooth perfect gameplay. Also just google 6700xt sutter and the results speak for themselves, seems to a big problem with this card and as usual AMD just ignore. Never again will I waste time and money on an AMD card.

Something doesn't sound right. One of my mates has had the RTX3060TI,RX6600XT and RX6700XT in the last few years and didn't have these problems. Another one has an RX6750XT and it seems OK.

Also, even if you google RTX3060TI stuttering you get lots of posts saying it stutters:

My RTX3060TI doesn't do that but I don't tend to update my drivers too often. I would suggest a clean install maybe using an earlier driver.BIOS and chipset drivers up to date? Could be a duff card failing all of that.

Did full driver cleanse with DDU. One thing that I noticed is that the 6700xt clocks fluctuate a lot, my old vega 56 did this as well and it drove me mad.

The 3060Ti just stays locked around 2000mhz. The 6700xt goes from 2500 to 700 etc and even if I set the minimum clock to 2000mhz it still stutters. Bfv was unplayable. Battlefront 2 was stuttering. Haven't checked chipset drivers as I'm not the kind of person that updates all the time. I don't see why the moment I popped my 3060 Ti back in everything went back to normal. The adrenaline software is horrid with far too many options , far too many things that could be wrong and I don't have the patience to spend an entire day troubleshooting when the bloody thing should just work.

It's been a long time since I had an AMD card, it is worth setting up properly once. I find the Nvidia suite to be unpleasant, feels forced in a way, like it's just an advert lol.

If your really not sold on the 6700xt then the best you could do is sell it and the 3060ti and get a 4070. That way you get a decent performance jump and still stay on Nvidia.

@nitram100 yeah that is not the cards fault. Frame pacing on the last few AMD generations has been as good as nvidia if not even slightly better, this is coming from someone who has had plenty of gpus from both camps. Something else is causing your issues i'm 99% sure of it.

I'll have to try a few things. I've started a return but stupidly redeemed the starfield code before testing the card so will likely have to fix this card.

I still don't understand how the 3060Ti can just be popped back in and out of the system with zero issues. When changing over from my vega 56 bacdk in 2020 I didn't even have to DDU the previous AMD drivers, the Nvidia just worked with 0 zero issues.

I had this same issue with my vega 56, fluctuating clocks causing stuttering and had to force clocks in msi afterburner. I don't care what anyone says, AMD cards are not as straight forward as Nvidia cards. I can see why they cost more.

you can use.
moreclocktool
better option for locking the clock speed.

My monitor is 3440 x 1440 ultrawide and I wanted to play Witcher 3 in 1080p windowed so I could multitask. It's buttery smooth at 3440x1440 but was hitching all over the place at windowed 1080p. Anyone got any ideas about what's causing this? My multitasking was a zoom call but both GPU and CPU util are well under 100%.

As soon as I go back to fullscreen, native res, performance is perfect, even with Zoom still going in the background.

Every AMD card i've had has been plug and play, just like every nvidia card i've had. I currently have a 6700XT, previously had a 5700XT and Vega 56 all of which didn't experience the issues you are facing so its clearly not a blanket AMD issue and something else is causing the issues here.

Just installed the Sapphire 6700XT and had to remove my pcie wireless card as the GPU is a few mm over 2 slots. Currently tethered via usb to my phone.
Will have to order a usb dongle for short term but my possible solution is that my BT fibre contract is due for renewal and I might get the extra disc so I can cat 5 into that. Time to check the packages!

...
End of last year I was feeding a 4K TV with a GTX 1060, then an RTX2060. The bar is raised so high these days with ridiculous hardware such as the 3090 and high res screens. An RTX 2060 is fine for 4K gaming, as long as you aren't comparing it to a 3080 etc.

I always told myself I'd never pay more than £300 for a second hand graphics card... Getting this new 6700xt is an exception mainly due to FOMO, and knowing I can get a decent price for my RTX2060.
Going to be retiring this card soon :') Done well apart from a hissy fan. FOMO hitting again and it'll go on MM here to be replaced by a 7900XT. Not really needed TBH, the 6700XT has been great.
