6700 XT Owners Thread

Going to be retiring this card soon :') Done well apart from a hissy fan. FOMO hitting again and it'll go on MM here to be replaced by a 7900XT. Not really needed TBH, the 6700XT has been great.
Atleast your honest with yourself :) FOMO can be a ...... to deal with. Glad i'm 90% over it. I guess being disappointed so many times by the price to performance value have had it's effects on me.

It is...
Got a pile of other stuff I've been meaning to eBay so the cost should vanish enough for me not to worry about the 'fun purchases' budget. :)

2023-08-11 16:00:20 , 1993.0 mhz

so these are the clocks , the temps are about 65c and the 415mhz was the exact moment I got a frame drop to 40fps in battlefront 2 when it goes to the character select screen after dying. This is despite forcing minimum 2000mhz clock in adrenaline.

If i plugged my 3060Ti back in , it would work perfectly. So what am I doing wrong here?

Well for starters you shouldn't just be swapping cards from two different manufactuers in/out without sorting out your drivers cleanly each time. Having owned a Vega 64 > 6700XT > 6900XT what you say you are experiencing (stuttering) is not normal.

But your switching from death cam screen thing to a interface screen, sounds more like loading from the storage drive so the GPU is down clocking then ramping up again. How full is your storage drive. Worth a check of your storage drive.

Thanks for the reply.

My storage is only about 50 % full. Not sure why it's only doing it on this card. I put my 3060Ti in the other day when this was happening and it resolved it instantly, just constant smooth frame rate and no stutters.

The card or AMD software is causing this 100%

Thanks. I've swapped out about 2 times now , and did DDU each time and fresh installs. I've spent a silly amount of time on this

Ok done a complete removal of all AMD, back to the 3060Ti and everything is buttery smooth, not a single issue. Clocks stay locked at 2010mhz throughout entire game, no messing about with software like the AMD card.

I think the 6700xt may be a duff, something wrong with it.

It is weird that it doesn't do it on the Nvidia GPU because I'm reading up online on possible causes but most point to other areas of the rig. Which you'd think if that was the case it would be present all of the time regardless of GPU being used. There's lots of varying opinions online no one outright "fix". But I agree the dropping clock rate is the GPU waiting caused by something else. Do you have a gsync monitor? What CPU and Memory do you have? Is your pagefile recommended size? Have you tried with resize bar off?

EDIT: It is possible the card has issues - yep.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I have a freesync monitor 144hz, worked great with my vega 56, 3060Ti.

CPU is 3700x, ram is 3200mhz 16gb and page file looks to be fine. I haven't tried the resize bar yet. I kinda think the card may be faulty, I didn't really like the look of it to be honest one of the PCI express connections was a bit skew iffy on the board.

To be honest even if I did get the kinks ironed out, I would be so paranoid with any frame rate dip I would start obsessing that there is something wrong in the future.

Thanks for all the help anyways guys, apologies for moaning like an idiot.

Don't apologise bud. You responded to peoples advice and explained best you could. Just unlucky this time. Silicon lottery still exists.

Any tips on what to do with VRAM tuning? So far I’ve set power draw to +15%, not touched clocks and have voltage to 1075mV.

I then tried fast VRAM timings and it failed 3D Mark. I suspect I’ve done thing backwards and should have done this before maxing out my undervolt. Is there much performance gain to be had here, i.e. enough it to make it worth the hassle of having to find a stable undervolt again?

If this is a 2 slot model / reference model I'll be interested please if you could tag me in the post when it goes up :D

So did a run on NFS Unbound. Case is a TJ08B with 180mm fan as intake at 700rpm and a 120mm exhaust at 700rpm. Game was set to very high with no FSR or smart resolution. Vsync at 60 FPS enabled.

What model ? Temps similar to mine asrock 6700xt challenger in the nzxt h1 v2, haven't played with undervolting yet

It's the sapphire pulse. I didn't think I would hit 15gb ram usage too so now considering 32gb and maybe get the new version of the Air penetrator fan for the case. Will try a .080mv undervolt. Some people seem to get good results.
