6700 XT Owners Thread

Let me know, i might still get one and just hope it doesn't squeal.. Just because one screams doesn't mean they all will, its manufacturing variances and the PSU does play its part in it too.

If its too loud i'll send it back, i just can't see another 6750XT as nice as that.

Having said that there is this, "coming soon" 6700XT, not a 6750XT, the difference between them is 16GB/s vs 18GB/s memory IC's.

I bought mine purely for the vram size not specifically the speed for video rendering. Also wanted one I could put a block on as my system is custom cooled. The models above are a bit too much. I bought it with the pay later scheme so will have to wait for that to be cancelled before I think of another one. not buying nVidia.

The VRam is becoming problematic on my 2070 Super, if it wasn't for that i would probably keep it for another year or two, other than that its a good card and i like it, but that 8GB, it is a problem...

A 6700XT or 6750XT is equivalent to an RTX 2080Ti of the same generation, its what? 30% quicker? Not a huge amount, so if i'm going to do it, for the Vram.... its got to be a nice one for as little money as possible.

What i would like is an RX 6800, it would be good if i could find a nice one of those for about £450 or less.

part of me wants to just wait till the 7600 is released

Hopefully that will still have 12GB

IMO 12GB is the minimum now for £300 cards, 8GB should be ridiculed to the lowest end.

I would rather have 12GB of 18 or even 16GB/s memory than 21GB/s and only 8GB.

Anyone got a ballpark mV to aim for with an undervolt? I'm currently at 1125 mV and this seems ok. I had one driver timeout when I tried to turn on RT and everything on Ultra on Witcher 3, but other than this it seems quite happy to tick along at this. Will probably run a few more rounds of Unigine but am quite happy with this on the whole.

When I had my 6700XT I ran 1125mV as well.

it depends on the silicon :). I could run my old 6700xt at 1090mv yet my new 6950xt wont go much below stock 1200mv it seems :P. It's all trial and error in the end.

Thanks. I might see if I can take it any lower and see how I get on, although this is pretty good in terms of power draw and thermals at the mo.

Try lower the core clock by just 50 or 100 mhz and then take a look at your power draw.. RDNA2 is pushed to the limits and the last few mhz doesnt give that much more performance.

I'm having a hard time deciding on a power supply for when I either get a 6700XT or a 7700 (when it is released).

I don't mind going around the £100 mark, the rig is used for games only and for about 6 to 10 hours a week.

I have the following:
Silverstone TJ08be case
Ryzen 5 5600
16gb ram
GTX 1660
2 m.2 nvme
WiFi pcie card
CM Hyper CPU cooler with 1 120mm fan
1 180mm fan, 1 120mm fans.
Current PSU is a kolink 600w bronze which will be put in another rig.

There isn't a lot to choose from on OCUK. So far it looks like the MSI 750 gold might be good?

I bit the bullet and a 6700 XT has been ordered with a Seasonic Focus GX 650 Gold PSU.
Going to do an nv driver wipe tonight in preparation for delivery. :D

I'm about to do this i think, was contemplating the 7600 but the 6700xt deal with the premium starfield bundle seems a no brainer right now on my second rig.

Do it! Before the 7700 comes out and is not much more performance for probably 100 quid more. Lol

It might be disappointing but it's the best you can get for the price and new. Plus SF is a giant game that will last a long time.

The 6700XT wont dissappoint in 1440p or lower unless you expect to play heavy RT titles.. I was very happy with mine and the only reason I upgraded to a 6950XT was because I got a 3440x1440 display and I wanted above 70-85fps on average. The 6700XT is a fantastic GPU and its most likely biting AMD in the butt right now as it will almost certainly make their 7000 midrange series look like poor value options(depends on the final launch price of course).
