6950XT Performance

Truth be told Nvidia are my go to for graphics cards, the same way Intel were for cpu's but I ended up with a Ryzen processor and would go AMD if they can provide the fastest graphics card.

I tend to buy the high end (pc gaming is my only vice) so even a part is only 5% faster it would be the one I'd go for.
...but when that 5% starts costing megabucks for no particularly good reason its just waste.

If you were getting an extra 40% then yeah I get, fill ur boots and enjoy, good for others too as that price/perf filters down but what is happening in reality is the waste and price gorging filtering down instead which is bad for everyone including those that can afford the top-end stuffz.

6900XT: 18,463
6950XT: 22,209

22,209 / 18,463 = 1.20 (+20%)

How the #### did they do that?

3090TI: 20,855
6950XT: 22,209

22,209 / 20,855 = 1.0649 (+6.5%)

Strange lol. The 6950xt has no extra cores right? Just higher power limit and slightly faster vram

But if slightly higher memory bandwidth and higher power limit can boost it 20% then existing overclocked 6900xt must already be able to achieve the same scores

Edit: Yes 6900xt can already go up to 28k points

I'm wondering if its on 6nm

I think I know what's going on with the 6950XT results. AMD, in order to be competitive, released several different 6900xt's
You have the bare bone 6900xt.
You have the 6900xtx.
And, you have the 6900xtxh.
None of them were labeled in the context I've provided above. Only the well informed knew about this. Not sure why it wasn't better marketed. But none the less the 6900xtxh was the least reviewed card. So the masses only believe in the bare bone 6900xt benchmark results with current drivers. However, with a well cooled, OC, 6900xtxh with a healthy overclocked vram on better drivers offers exceptional performance. To say the least. However, I was told that it was slightly hamstrung with just 16Gbps of vram. Now that it's using 18Gbps of vram can it spread it's wings.

They are also releasing another Sapphire Toxic as a 6950xt that will also be watercooled. Which will be clocked much higher then what wcc provided. But I do wonder if the Uarch is slightly updated though.

Here are some of the XTXH video cards that I know of:
ASRock 6900xt OC Formula
MSI 6900xt Gaming Z Trio
SAPPHIRE TOXIC AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT Extreme Edition
XFX SPEEDSTER MERC319 AMD Radeon RX 6900XT LIMITED BLACK
Aorus 6900 XT XTREME WATERFORCE
XFX Speedster Zero

I've not seen any of these cards benchmarked in current review cycles. Which might explain the confusion of the performance delta. These cards are a lot faster. And even faster in the hands of an OC'er. Who will WC these cards and use MorePower Tool to increase the power limits.

I have no doubt that the rumor was true that AMD was gunning for the performance crown before RDNA 2 was released. Although, this is a bit late AMD's Radeon Division is really trying to present itself as a high end, top performing GPU contender. And I can only see this continuing with RDNA 3. As they determine how many MCD's it will take to achieve it.

Not sure why they bothered including FC6, the AMD cards score higher in it but the RT is half baked at best compared to Nvidia.

Still, the 6950 looks like a corker for non-RT gaming.

Is it? should we just take out anything where RDNA2 does well in RT because by your estimation AMD's RT is half baked compared with Nvidia?

Lets just stick to Control and Cyberpunk 2077 because those are the only true RT games.

No need to be an arse about it. I thought it was a proven fact, rather than speculation.
