700D carbon fibre build: Blackbox II

thanks geezers,

I would say I am 'medium' at vinyl compared to the pros you can see on youtube, however having a heatgun does allow you to do far more challenging things with it such as compound curves etc

not to say it's easy doing curves, its not, its really stressful! haha

Right small update, i've hooked up ALL LED's to my RGB controller, so the backlighting is now also doing a slow pulse-fade effect.
I've added an LED to shine on the CPU block as it was very dark there, I like how it turned out, it's subtle but works.

I filled the res up with more water, but it was the condensation that was catching the light. Oh well its just not as bright as I had hoped...

Here is the LED, I put a piece of heatshrink to elimate the 'torch' outer ring you get from such LED's, also side on, it is not blinding to the eye at all, I think its rather clever hehe. it will be secured better than masking tape soon!:

Very nice, sorry if its been asked already but can I ask how much the carbon fibre was in a certain size (incase of competitor etc).

Amazing build well done :).

Thanks

p.s: anyone know when removed if residue is also removed?

leaves no residue

undergroundgraphics.com

60x60cm is £20

I have £100 of the stuff on this build! that's as much as some people's cases!

then again so is £170 on grills

HOLY adding that up plus the 700D LOL, that's only the case!

very happy with it

cheers fellas:)
just wish I had two cards in sli doing the pulse effect, warp core madness!

skyline check out phenoptix.com

I shot a video for you guys but lighting is poor and its basically gash so i'll do another soon.

Having real trouble clearing dust off the acrylic as it builds up an immense static charge with cotton or microfibre and as soon as the panel is on dust is stuck to from the inside!

Maybe I need to earth the acrylic to the window? It was never a problem on my tsunami dream, RIP

I little bump after checking out the link in your sig from the "My crysis 2 in 3D" thread.

Really nice work on the carbon fiber stuff. After seeing this I've been humming and hawing what to do now. Your work has inspired me to change my path. I was going to paint the internals of my case matte black but I was also thinking to use a finer carbon fiber pattern.

I wonder what "Carbon Fibre Sunstrip" is like. I'm not wanting it to ruin the look of my Lian Li case with a thick pattern. I'd love something that looks solid from a distance but your eyes start to pick up the details as you get closer to the case.

Trying to think what route to take, some parts matte black, same parts matte carbon. All matte black would feel too plain yet at the same time I would think full on carbon would be a bit too fancy... decisions, decisions.

Thanks guys, guests are rather WTF about the PC haha:)

Got an aquacomputer cable coming so I can finally hook up the pump and control its speed. Should make the system really nice and quiet I hope.

Got some NZXT front panel white braided extension cables too, to make another 'bundle' of white wires at the bottom of the case, should look cool.

Gonna add in one more 6'' UV cathode, the tubes aren't blue enough at the bottom.

Will also try to braid the remaining USB cable for completeness.
And finally I gotta cover the back panel in carbon and squash ALL those wires down! yes I have been running without an entire side panel for months...

Interestingly 3M have just released 'wet look' carbon called 1080 or something. You could do a select few parts in fibre, maybe three or more parts for some kind of consistency.

Thats sweeeet mate!

I'm about to use a bit of this 3M carbon wrap on my current SR-2 project, whats the best way of manipulating it round bends etc, hairdryer I suppose so it stretches a bit?
Also are you using a water/soap solution first on the sticky side so you can manoeuvre it or just sticking it straight on?

Cheers :)

I know what you mean about soap and water from model planes. No you don't do that here, it wouldn't work its pretty tacky but it does give you second chances. Best bet is a cheapo heatgun to make life easier that's what I did:)
