700D carbon fibre build: Blackbox II

xspc UV blue (clear)

brilliant stuff IMO though it's the only tubing i've ever used as this is/was a first build

bends to a good radius and has NO markings on it! I hate the text tygon has, on really clean builds it looks a bit ridiculous IMO.

The blue this gives off under UV is soo soothing, like a deep cyan/tropical water kind of colour:)

pics don't do it justice. it's a lot less 'boy racer' than those pics suggest.

they are sharkoon UV cathodes centurion, really nice quality, quad 30cm kit for £11

where are your LED strips from? I notice ocuk dont sell them, maybe you could start a new trend. i saw similar strips used in car foot wells a while ago but cant seem to find them anywhere to take a 12v input. if its a competator then i understand that you are unable to post the answer though.

Also: epic build. im getting very very very tempted to start something similar. red + CF would be my personal thing but everyone to their own i guess! :D still, sick, i bet your thrilled!

ta nibbles.

not a competitor to ocuk no, uk based phenoptix.com, they are good guys and ship out fast. all their led stock is quality.

yeh i had thought about mobo backlighting for ages and im sure a guy on here was gonna do it but never saw it finalised?

ordered some white cathodes and sheet aluminium. need some more cf too.

anyone got access to a milling machine in notts?! need to take 1mm off the rear fan grill as it protrudes and stops the side panel sitting flush to the case. luckily it can still close though...

thinking i may have to sand that 1mm off! ouch...

cheers basil

I've added another white cathode, 30cm to the shrouds where it reads 'phobya'.

I really like the extra light diffusing into the case now and will balance out the UV tubes that little bit more.

was meant to cut the window today but bought speakers for piano instead lol.

maybe tomorrow, i'll find my way

well cut the window out and sorta did an epic fail:(

I got so caught up in making a nice curve that I didn't even place it at the right depth. So now I am showing the drive bays, not my intention.

Not much I can do now as obviously I can't add material back.
Stil going to apply the perspex and see how I get on with it, make the best of a bad situation.

I've put two 4'' white cathodes behind the hardrives and it looks alright illuminating the little 'box' they are in.

What do people think? Shall I bother contacting Corsair UK for another panel to have a go again?:(

Oops :(

Personally if it was my case I would put it down to experience and buy a new panel. I think it ruins the whole look of the case being able to see so much of the drive bays.

On the plus side it looks like a pretty clean cut :)

Could you not do something with the metal you cut out, some of the CF sheeting and the perspex to cover the bays? Admittedly in your position I'd probably be after a new panel too, and put it down to experience.

Great build though, very nicely executed. Love the top fan grilles, chunky rocks.

couldn't you use some sort of chemical metal type filler to 'stick' the piece back in (after cutting the curve in the right place) then smooth it off and reapply some cf sheet to the outside? The benefit of having something stuck over your side panel ;)

But if it was me I'd want to know it was right and I'd get another panel - just throwing suggestions up in the air :)

im just about to get a 700d and am looking at cutting the side panel and i hope i dont cut it wrong either,it still look's a awesome build and i bet your kicking yourself now.

as other people have said....get another panel and learn by your mistake's as im sure many people have done so to.
