7900 GTX sli anyone doing it?

I really enjoyed reading the last few dozen posts. But wasn't this supposed to be a 7900gtx SLi thread.

Kidding, you guys knock yourself out.

I'd be interested though to know how my game's stacking up to other people's. I've found a nice stable balance on my card of 680/1650 and I play at 1600x1200 all maxed (ini tweaks on, but mostly ones for improved image quality) without any real problems. Though perhaps i'm not that fussy. And i've never used FRAPS, all i ever use is the in game frame rate scorer.

EDIT: I do find oddly, that cities don't run as well as they should, though outdoors i'm fine, even with an extra textures mod and all the water reflections turned on.

Just tried the save game @ 1680x1050 16xHQAF HDR no aa

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
1839, 60000, 13, 40, 30.650

You do realise that the grass density in this area makes it the slowest part in the game though right?

You are using an ini tweak yes? I suggest if you want it to be comparitive that you use a default ini (like I did for this test).

Although you are using an uber opty 170 so maybe thats why you get uber frames?

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'd hate to think all that effort was for nothing. I'm going to give up now.

Your results are similar to mine, speeduk. No idea how fornowagains are so high, but i get similar FPS to him when i lower gfx card settings

Thank you for your honest input.

I am sorry. It is actually interesting. I can't see that either of you are wind up merchants so I suspect there is simple reason why egt is getting such low results (or why you are getting such high results depending on your point of view).

All it has is the texture file thing, its not tweaked. It works ok so I've never bothered. How much more could I get and is it worth it? Although I've finished the game.

His config file most probably has a setting similar to iMinGrassSize=120 or the opteron 170 is making the difference.

If you look again at my 3rd post up with results - changing this setting to 140 gains you lots of fps.

As a point of fact though (at least in as far as any online comments are facts) dual core does give more of a bonus per clock than most people assume. Not only in game, but maybe FRAPS works better/faster/differently because it's running on a dedicated core? (Wild speculation of corse, but there might be something to it)

Found it,
iMinGrassSize=80

I'm going to try the grass tweak now. I'd also agree that a fast Opty 170 will definitely help with this game.

Bingo. 180 is the default i think. But at 140 it makes no difference as far as I can tell other than speeding things up a bit.

Holy cow. Grass at 180, that's a lot of FPS. Looks a bit bare though. What's a good number, 120?

Please, laugh and taunt. My knowledge and expertise is in ruins and I should be branded and have fruit thrown at me.

It's a good tweak for outside though. That's probably why i'm feeling like i am getting the short end of the stick when i'm in a city.
