****7950 (disabled) BOOST BIOS thread****

Ah good stuff can you post a link to the new bios as and when its posted.

Yep, no problem I will update this thread once the BIOS will be ready ;)

Hi

at 1500, I get tiny red dots in Metro. Now if I set it back down to 1450 all is ok. but as soon as I restart PC it jumps back up to 1500, the underclocking is not sticking.

In GPUZ, it reports 1500, but I flashed the 1400 mem bios..I also tried 1050 1400 and memory still shows as 1500. I have re-installed drivers/trixx aswell

It seems that no matter what bios I flash to it, it sticks on 1500 memory...

Fixed :)

EDIT:

I've tested the BIOS with lower voltage, kahboom will update the profiles in no time. :)

I've been reading this thread with interest and I'm interested in giving this a go. Very daunting though, as I've never flashed a GPU before. Are there any good guides?

My card is a MSI 7950 TFIII Boost Edition and I've got it running at 1140/1500. As my ASIC is quite low at 67.7%, is there much benefit in flashing my card? I'd like to continue running my current overclock so will I be able to do so at a lower voltage? Can my overclock go higher with this new BIOS?

Thanks in advance, sorry if these are stupid questions.

Make sure to have the swithc at position 1 which you can find next to crossfire.

Flashing through DOS

http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57750

I flash through Windows but lots of people don't like to do it that way. I never had any issues by using Windows Ati flash ;)
After flashing make sure to reinstall drivers and OCing tools e.g. MSI AB

This has to be the best bios i have used. I could never get near 1200 core before now everything is great. A welcome boost to my eyefinity setup thanks so much.

This bios makes msi afterburner work with my his cards. It also enables voltage control so i dont have to use that crappy his tool any more. Very happy.

I chaged Trixx to MSI AB as well, had problems with Trixx which were very annoying
kahboom still didn't upload the profiles with lower voltage but I will edit this post with a link to that BIOS as it works.

This is superb work guys :D

Sorry I couldn't help much IC, I was in the states on hols while we were emailing! But looks like you got there with Kahboom.

Can't wait to try out myself :)

I'm not sure, but am I missing something here? This bios mod runs then card at 1070/1500 with lowered voltage and disabled boost. But couldn't you do that anyway with MSI AB?
And can you flash one of the 7970 bios on a 7950?

I need to be enlightened.

Can some one just clarify for me, in the OP the picture of the bios switch is that in position 1?? the reason I ask is to me I would say that was position 2.

Just wanting to check before I flash.

Correct the post in the OP shows bios 2 selected. You want to use bios 1 so flick the switch. Hopefully IC3 will update the picture when he see's this. Bios 2 is the protected one so never try to write to that.

It clearly says switch the BIOS to position 1 ;)

EDIT

Made it bigger, hope that helps :P

No and no, it won't reduce voltage and boost is constant regardless the tool/forcing constant voltage on the Ice-Q.

Some 50's can be flashed with a 70 bios, but it only runs the clocks/voltage/fan profiles, it won't unlock the shaders and on the earlier Ice-Q' Boosts, the dvi iirc was disabled.

I need to be enlightened.

Done.;)

But the 50's on 7970 pcb and the memory timings are much better from what I heard.
