****7950 (disabled) BOOST BIOS thread****

Just uninstalled all drivers and overclocking software, then installed 13.5 beta 2, and same problem, downclocks to 1.14/1.15 when under load, temps are under 70c for both cards

When you say downclocks are you seeing vdroop in something like gpu-z or is afterburner physically changing your voltage on screen ?

Looking at GPU-Z on another screen while running heaven, and the voltage drops while under load, while idle its at about 1.178v - 1.184v

I don't know if I am missing something, but is the only benefit with this bios that helps stop voltage going to 1.25v when used? Maybe as a result slightly lower temps I would guess.

Can it help OC better is what I would want to know :D

Yes and no it doesn't help you oc better. However it enables you to use power saving features like ULPS and the superb Zero Core whilst operating a large overclock.

Through lots of tweaking i have found my perfect clock speed/voltage combination. 1093 core (35 pixel) and 1564 memory (300gb bandwidth per card) with a voltage of 1.156v. Kaboom is creating me my own custom bios. Once its done i will ditch overclocking and gpu monitoring via afterburner osd and rely on CCC only and benefit from zero core and have my second card turn off completely when not in use.

Thanks for that explanation LtMatt.

I just leave it on default settings for majority of the games and use OverDrive to enable to the OC for games that will benefit more fps. That has been working great for me and temps have been fine.

I think I will stick with it as is until AMD 9000/Nvidia 800 Series cards come out next year. That should be a nice jump for us :)

No and no, it won't reduce voltage and boost is constant regardless the tool/forcing constant voltage on the Ice-Q.

Some 50's can be flashed with a 70 bios, but it only runs the clocks/voltage/fan profiles, it won't unlock the shaders and on the earlier Ice-Q' Boosts, the dvi iirc was disabled.

Done.;)

Thanks for the info, flashed the bios, got 1070/1500 @ 1.188v

With the original biosi could get up to 1180/1700 @ 1.250v stable. Would it be the same for this bios? I'll try later on to see what I can get.

My question is this, does this can this tool modify the original his boost edition bios
because with any other bios it breaks the HDMI port on our cards, i have looked for a official bios that did not break HDMI and only the original bios that comes with the card works with its hdmi,, can you edit the official bios ? so that HDMI works for our HIS 7950 boost cards ?

This does not break the HDMI afai as it uses the original his boost bios, it just removes the boost part. It really is the best thing since sliced bread.

Ah i just remembered it would be no good for me, as i use the gigabyte bios as it allows me to use msi afterburner.
with the official bios i cant use afterburner.

its 2 choices use gigabyte bios and gain overclockability + his afterburner compatibility
loose hdmi port
or use official and gain hdmi but loose overclocking + afterburner.

dam i wish there was a full compaitibility bios out there that works with msi afterburner + hdmi working, i wonder what is so different between the 2 bios`s where 1 works and 1 does not work i think its the hdmi port hardware is diffrent if only we could change that on the official bios so that msi afterburner would work.

its really all msi afterburners fault if only that doosh would add msi boost compatibility to his afterburner as if it works with 1 bios and not with another bios its defo a software compaitibility issue on his end. and not because of something supid like no monitoring or overclocing chip on the cards ect.

I find that MSI Afterburner won't work properly with my custom bios, like kaboom suggested. The problem is because im using ULPS and Zero Core for some reason afterburner kicks my 2nd gpu into a lower power state while playing games, the effect of that is as you would imagine.

So now ive ditched afterburner (sob) and im just using CCC and RadeonPro. (for tweaks if needed and overlay) I've created presets in CCC using keyboard shortcuts so i can control both gpu fan speeds. (custom fan profiles don't work with Zerocore and different oc apps like afterburner - only 1st gpu profile works)
