7990 Replacement

In all honesty what is a suitable replacement for a 7990?

I'd like to know myself as I have one, it's a dual GPU card and still sits 2nd behind the R9 295X2 but ahead of the R9 290, 290X in 3rd on various websites.

The cheapest way for gigabyte to solve this is by refunding full amounts for the cards, 2x 290's are more expensive and that is probably the best replacement for a 7990 imo

290 when overclocked isn't that far off a 7990 anyway, for example;

And

A stock 290 is clocked at 947Mhz, mine is running at 1250Mhz which is a 40% overcloock.

At my resolution a 7990 is on average 39% faster then a stock 290 so mine with that 40% overclock is going to be right up it's arse.

Then you could overclock the HD 7990 as well.:D

I also don't think I would want to run a 290 @1250mhz 24/7 either.

So pay for a 290 then 100's of pounds to cool it.....buy a better card. To get the 40% overclock you've had to purchase 100's £ worth of kit.

The R9 series was designed to run hot, I imagine not a preference but to call a 7990 hot against the R9's is a statement to behold.

Instead of a WC loop and a chiller I'd buy a 2nd 290 and run them at stock. Way faster and less components to fail.

Then again, what do they take into consideration? Equivalent performance or price?

Who says I'm paying hundreds of pounds to cool it, don't make assumptions

hey guys, i chased up my my 7990 RMA with gigabyte today, they have offerd me two R9 280X's

two of these http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4793#ov

but apparently they can get me a replacement 7990 for gigabyte HQ in Taiwan, i find this hard to believe tbh due to the mining hype
now ive asked if they can do a single GPU solution or a refund, but i wont get a reply until tomorrow now.
