7990 Replacement

I would not accept the 2 cards, need 2 PCIEX slots, more power draw...etc...etc..

The whole point of a dual card like the 7990 is one slot, less power then dual cards..

By offering you 2 cards they've completely removed any advantage a 7990 offered.

Tell them you don't have the case or the power supply to run 2 separate cards.

How long has it been now? They have 28 days to sort it out or you get a refund.

I would tell them you either want a 290x or a GTX 780 of so,e description.

hey guys, i chased up my my 7990 RMA with gigabyte today, they have offerd me two R9 280X's

two of these http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4793#ov

but apparently they can get me a replacement 7990 for gigabyte HQ in Taiwan, i find this hard to believe tbh due to the mining hype
now ive asked if they can do a single GPU solution or a refund, but i wont get a reply until tomorrow now.

what would you guys do?

can you trust me the email/number?

personally I would not want 280x's, because i would want at least 290(s)
id be happier for a 1 290 than 2 280x easier to sell & its still cheaper than what i paid for it.

But im very tempted if they do offer me 1 290 to get 2 more :), though Gigabyte i would no longer touch from my history...

i went through a lot of hassle tracking my 7990 via gigabyte has OCUK would not give me their reference number.

yeh sure

Might have some 290's for sale smoogs soon if you fancy it. ;)

If you sent it on the 5th of this month then Gigabyte have 1 week left to sort you out a suitable replacement.

Tell them this in a email, all repairs and replacements must be done in 'good time' which is generally 28 days according to UK consumer law.

After 28 days they're taking the **** so I would demand a full refund.

So in a nutshell they have 28 days to

1. Get a replacement 7990 to you
2. Give you a refund
3. Offer you a decent card of equal value

i think its 28 working days? and is that from when gigabyte received it them selves?

How old was the card? If it's less then 12 months old then it's from when PCUK received it as the seller has to handle any warranty repairs for the first 12 months of any warranty, after 12 months it become optional and thus it counts when Gigabyte received it.

After 28 days I would just drop OCUK an email telling them that it's been over 28 days and you want a refund or a card of equal value.

Personally I would go with a 290x

still no word for me but they only received it on the 11th i believe... :(

might chance OCUK tomorrow for the internal RMA number

i tried myself buddy, they send multiple things on the same number, so they cant give it out as it has access to other people things :(

i think mine arrived on the 22nd, not sure tho

from OCUK
"It was sent back to the manufacturer on the 12th August for them to either repair or replace, at this time we haven't heard anything back from them.

We do have to allow up to the 9th September 2014 for them to provide you with a replacement.

We will notify you as soon as we receive it."
