8 Packs 4ghz 32m Challenge win full Haswell 4770K Bundle.

id still rate Samsung green the best value for the money and its low profile should you want a big cpu cooler

teamextreme ram isn't bad either

other kits tend to be to expensive for what they are imo

Thanks :)

Not too worried about the height of the chips - at some point I'll get around to installing a proper WC setup anyway. The Samsung green sets only seem to be 4Gb modules though, unfortunately?

As far as the Teamgroup memory they do seem to be pretty good value... What do you think to this set? Given what 1Deep is reporting, it seems that speed rather than timings are what's needed to drop the times?

considering my tinkering, I would say yes, speed over timings, just need to find out which ones matter the most for read speed. Wazza's time is my current target, I shall be trying to get the bus speed as high as possible, then see what I can do with the timings and upping the voltages.

Thanks :)

I think you need ram speed up to the point where you would need to slacken the timings too much for any additional gain. My ram hits a wall around 2600mhz, it does 2800mhz but I need to loosen a lot of key timings, hence it isn't worth it.

I'm no expert mind, just reporting my findings :-D

I ran these today in my RIVE/3970X rig

http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=496&Itemid=67&limit=1&limitstart=0

They were made for X58 but with ultra tight timings 2000mhz 7-8-7-20, I bought 2 kits of them several years ago but a couple of sticks died. This left 4 sticks, just enough to run on X79 so I gave them a go @2000mhz 7-8-7-20 1T 88.

Unfortunately you need high MHz as well as very tight timings, so the result was they were about 6 seconds slower than my Dominator Platinums.

They also had very little overclocking headroom so anything over 2000mhz and they crashed.

I found a bench with an i7 4770k running this @stock (3.9mhz turbo) and it scored 8.15

If it had been running @4.0ghz, I think it would have scored around 8mins

Having said that this came from a pre launch leak.
