8 Packs 4ghz 32m Challenge win full Haswell 4770K Bundle.

Will see what 2400mhz 10-12-11-28 will do, actually will show which out of speed or timings are more important.

Also, I can boot into windows at 2800mhz but its unstable no matter how much voltage or loose the timings are.

I have to say that these g skill ripjaws are incredible, stock spec is 2133mhz 9-11-10-28 and they overclock with ease.

Aim for 2000mhz and CAS 8 ..... even 1866

Will try cas 8, will post up the best times I can do at ca8, 9, 10 and 11, will be interesting which is best. Will need to work out the best secondary and tertiary times for each as well otherwise it defeats the object.

Tighter timings on those ripjaws..... You've got the right memory, see if you can drop a Cas even drop to slower speeds and you'll be able to show Wazza a thing or two :D

hehe go away...far away:D

Just done a quick run at c8 2000mhz and it's slower. 8m 09.762.

Hmmmm, 6 seconds quicker by going from 2000mhz c8 to 2600mhz c11.

Speed over timings?

Nahhhh timing is everything that's why everyone is hitting a brick wall by trying to blast it with speed.

It's like the internet... No point having a 1gbps connection when the packets are out of sync

Tight timings and fast memory speed are both important. 2400mhz memory with slack timings is pretty useless unless all you are after is to overclock the CPU.

Your best bet I think would be the compromise option @2133mhz with good timings.

If you use large memory sizes this also puts more strain on the IMC and makes it harder to run very high memory speeds/tight timings.

Thanks for the input... As far as the CPU goes, realistically it's going to be a 4.5-4.7Ghz maximum (since I won't be de-lidding and I'm using an H70 for cooling). So, there isn't much headroom there.

Unfortunately it seems tough to find 2133Mhz kits that are any tighter than the 2400Mhz CAS-10 Xtreem LV kit... The 1833Mhz kits seem to have good CAS-9 timings available, whereas the faster kits don't...

Which specific kit would you recommend? :)

@ duff-man go for the slowest possible memory you can find:D

Pfft - don't worry. I don't have enough spare cash for the high-end kit needed to win any competitions... I'm just up for doing a bit of tinkering with a specific end-goal in mind :)

I can spare about £600 for CPU, motherboard and RAM really. Someone with very deep pockets will come along with a £400 motherboard and 8Gb of super-speed RAM - mark my words!

id still rate Samsung green the best value for the money and its low profile should you want a big cpu cooler

teamextreme ram isn't bad either

other kits tend to be to expensive for what they are imo

I am glade so many are trying this. I will get a leaderboard up and running in the next couple of days.

Woop, woop. So i can try this on my little work ultrabook? Be prepared guys, your going down!

Serious note though, good luck to all who enter :)
