8800 320mb GTS Feb 12th.

Urh, 320mb :p;)

2 of these in sli = cheap nuke :D

Am considering moving to 24/30" very soon as my 19" is just doesnt cut it anymore, if it works out, might replace the gtx with 2 of these.

Or just get another gtx :D

As i said above competitor pricing is not allowed so id remove that, and thats a stupid price, bet thats just any old price they've put up, plucked that out of thin air i rekon (i hope), as if they are around that, no one is going to buy them. :D

Hopefully OCUK will have them for around 200 or so. I really don't want to buy from any other store, because the past few PC's I have brought have all been from OCUK, so its kind of tradition to buy the bits from them :)

would it have better performance than Ati 1950 series? Well thats memmory fight i guess, anyways i think i ll wait for my R600 chips

And I just rma'd an old x1800xt and got £389 back for it :D

I wonder what Im getting next guys ;)

Nice one, R600. :D

@vairo, definately better peformance, its a full blown 640mb GTS only with half the Ram, the GTS's are faster than the x1950 XTX's, its the end of the road for the x1950pro/x1950 XT now, just like their big brother the XTX, i can't see anyone wanting an ATi card if this comes out around the £200 mark, whos going to want an old gen Dx9 x1950 XT for around £170, or an old gen x1950pro, when you could get a next gen Dx10 GTS for around £200. :)

Indeed! :D I was as surprised as anyone with the end result :)

It just depends really what I want to do now, I mean if the GTS comes at the price people are assuming at <200 then I mean I could easily flog my x1950pro for £100! Thats the thing, its gonna coast under £100 for a dx10 card......ah so tempting! But then there is R600 just around the corner too, decisions decisions!

I think Gibbo would have said something if they were due out that soon tbh.

Next card for me will be single slot anyway, I wonder if these will be? I think maybe I could be convinced to go back to nVidia, however i'm not fancying their Vista drivers.

What Vista drivers is that, they aint got them out yet, unlike ATi. :p

Nvidia may have beaten ATi out the door with the Dx10 cards, but no good if they have no drivers for Vista. :D

I know it's going to take the X1950XT out of the running, I still think it's stupid to go Dx10 without seeing what ATi have to offer.

I'd kick myself if the X2800XL came in cheaper, faster, and single slot.

I run a 20" widescreen and I think you will definately notice the limitations of 320MB if you intend to game at native res with all the bells and whistles (ie: high res textures + AA) enabled. Especially with DX10 titles. Don't forget anyone buying this card now should be thinking of future games as well as the titles out now... especially now that Vista is upon us.

The card would be great for 1280*1024 though I think.

I dunno, I've yet to see any benchmarks in sensible (playable) settings where a 512meg card is significantly better than a 256meg card, never mind a 320meg one. The only time you get much of a difference is when the game is running so slowly that it's unplayable on both cards anyway.

Don't forget that the difference between 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 is less than 35% and I would definitely 'downgrade' from my 512meg 7900GTO to a 320meg 8800GTS if I could do so for a decent price.

Anyway it shouldn't be too long before we see some benchmarks I'd imagine and I can't see any other result the the 320meg 8800GTS wiping the floor with any 512meg card (except the 7950gx2, obviously).

Just want the new cards out NOW! Building new pc, from scratch, and the GPU is giving me biggest headache. Don't want to get a dx9 card, then have to but another card in 6 months, BUT, I dont want to spend over £200 either!
