8800 320mb GTS Feb 12th.

Are these the mainstream DX10 cards that The Register/The Inquirer were talking about weeks ago that were due for release sometime early Spring? If so I'd expect an early release price of about £240 inc. VAT if going by previous release prices.

If they are that price, who (that is sane) would buy them when a 8800 GTS 640MB can be yours for the price of around 250 - 260. It would be suicide for the card.

yeah they can't afford it to come in that close to the 640Mb version, sub 200 is what i expect to see, i mean it has to be if they want this card to sell much :) plus with the boys in red coming ever closer to releasing there battleship sized powerhouse, they gotta get as much of the market as they can, and now

I only run at 1280 X 1024, amd am on quite a tight budget.

Would the 320 MB GTS be ok? or would it be worth saving a bit harder to get the 640 MB version?
Will I really notice much of a difference between the 320 MB one and the 640 one? It will be backed up by a 3.4 GHz Pentium D.....

whats with all the people saying they'r going to be around £250, does anyone actually really look about at different websites?
8800GTS are hitting £240 now, so a version with half the ram isnt going to cost more is it?
And £40 less for half the ram isnt exactly making them to cheap is it?
Loadsamoney i generally agree with you, and im looking to order one of these definatly, if they're reasonably cheaper than the 640s, but people will still want x1950pros, since they're £120. Thats a big difference to what these 8800s will cost.

to be honest its buying, not shopping. Shopping would be finding the best deal as i would see it.

Besides, i said look, not buy, not shop :D

Iv just sent pre-sales a webnote asking when pre-orders will be up etc, and a rough estimate for release date, as its started appearing on other websites but id rather use ocuk, but to be honest waiting is becoming inconvenient, id rather just have everything ordered and wait for my new build. not hav to wait n order bit by bit

Just want the new cards out NOW! Building new pc, from scratch, and the GPU is giving me biggest headache. Don't want to get a dx9 card, then have to but another card in 6 months, BUT, I dont want to spend over £200 either!

giving me a headache with them releasing everything on paper. I dont want to buy a piece of paper.
the 320mb will last you a while mate, even if ATI release cards to wipe the floor with these, if you're playing at 1280x1024 or there abouts itll take a while for games to mature properly into DX10 where they can test these cards.
Right now at that res nothing really troubles them.
And if you're not willing to spend over £200 you're probably used to not playing everything maxed out, so turning a few things lower down the line isnt going to be a big deal for you!

I'd kick myself if the X2800XL came in cheaper, faster, and single slot.

Think this is why many have waited, even myself.....Still imagine if the X2800XT appearing and being more pricey cos its newer and similar speeds as the 8800GTX

Only thing is I know ATI have highly stable/fast and good Vista drivers but thats with there current range running those drivers on DX10 ATI hardware may proove better or worser then Nvidias current Vista "Beta" state drivers and there DX10 hardware.

Will have to see i guess....
