8800 320mb GTS Feb 12th.

Well the 640mb GTS is the same length as the x1900's/x1950 XT/-X's, so if the pro is the same length as those, then the GTS will be same length, just depends if these 320mb ones are a bit shorter than that due to having less memory chips on them. :)

they'v got the same amount of chips on, just each chip is half the capacity of the memory chips present on the 640mb version. Thus keeping same bandwidth etc but at a reduced cost for memory. Was on 1 of links earlier in thread, think iv worded that correctly :)

Hi there

These cards are hardly any slower than the 640MB versions. Will certainly handle 1650x1050 resolution without breaking a sweat. :)

Sweet, that is the res that I game at (2x 20" Wide screens).

If the BFG versions are 200, if the others (IE, gainward) are say 180, I would probably go with them. I dont mind the non lifetime warranty (I typically upgrade every 12 months anyways) and I dont mind overclocking myself :)

Even way, roll on release date TBH.

This is really tempting, I have some questions though.

1. What's the size (length) of these like compared to the 640MB version? Has anybody tried getting a GTS into a Sugo and does it fit?

2. What kinda heat do these kick out? Is that fan noisy? I have my computer in a reasonably warm room and I don't want it doing a dyson on me, lol.

3. Are these single or dual slot?

Thanks in advance.

Seeing as we know the cost and details of the BFG 8800 GTS, you may as well let us know the details and prices of other models that'll be available on launch. :D

Hi there

These cards are under NDA. I cannot tell you anything more than you guys have managed to find yourselfs from browsing the web.

You guys have only found the details of the BFG card due a bug with a our new website.

I cannot post any information that could break NDA directly, all the information upto now you have discovered yourselves. Just a few more days to go. :)

As i said before no one is going to want to buy an ATi card when these come out, Nvidia is the only buy now till ATi get their r600's out, as who is going to want an x1950pro or an x1950 XT 256mb whose prices go up to £190 when you can have a next gen 8800 GTS for less than £200 that will just **** all over em, and bearing in mind the BFG is the dearest, theres bound to be cheaper brands around the £170 mark, probably a bit less, bye, bye ATi see you in March, i hope r600 is a good'un for yer. :D :D

Quoted because its soooooooo true!

Plus now that NVidia have sorted out their terrible IQ and replaced it with extremely impressive IQ there is little or no reason not to get one! :)

And i always thought you were a ATI fanboy!

STILL nothing <£150 in the Dx10 range though is there?

This has taken out the X1950XT, but the X1950 Pro, and X1650XT (somewhat) are still standing strong! :)

Na,

this will kill them.

I feel sorry for all the x1950 pro owners buying the pro for 150 just a few weeks ago.

DX 9 is so nearly dead I can smell it!

With DX 10 cards with this much power going for 200 who in the right mind will buy new DX9 limited hardware.

even if the DX 10 games are not out.

With nothing that supports it, given £150 i'd still take the Connect3D X1950 Pro. It's an awesome card for the price, and would still leave change.

It's really silly to upgrade just to satisfy the latest version of DirectX, if I got one of these GTSes it would be simply for it's Dx9 performance. I don't let Dx10 influence my decisions, and won't do for a while yet! :)

Nah im not a fanboy of any brand, have to agree with you above, this will kill the x1950pro's as well without a doubt, the cheaper brands of these are to come yet, so who's going to want a pro, when for a few quid more you could have a card that just totally decimates it in Dx9, and has much better IQ, and a bonus of having Dx10, as you said ppl have been snapping up the x1950pro's for £150+, like the HIS ICEQ3's, but theres no point buying ATi cards now, not at them prices. :)

Wonder if Gibbo will have an OcUK one for about £160. :D

I think was is the term to be used. Now the GTS is affordable the x1950 pro seems bad value for the price and performance it offers.

no one gets 8800 series for DX 10

They get it for speed and IQ etc..

8800 GTS that would destroy a x1950 pro nearly twice over for just a little more cash

No contest :D

Your "few quid" more is actually 65%!

I really agree, the X1950XT is dead. May as well be taken off the shelves now. But for those on a budget, the X1950 Pro is still the best choice.

I'm talking about the 512mb version. ;)

HIS ATI Radeon X1950 Pro ICEQ 3 TURBO SILENT Heatpipe 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

£134.99
£158.61 inc VAT

40 quid more will get you a 8800 GTS :D

I'm not denying that the GTS offers better bang for buck than the Pro (although I do think it's close).

My point is, what if someone has £100-£150 to spend and NO more?

It's got to be a lot closer to the price of the cheapest X1950 Pro to remove them totally from the equation.
