ok here is some shots of fear running on my ati x1950pro , with temporal and adaptive aa and af every setting maxxed at 1440x900 running 45 to 50 fps
the shots have been resized to 1028x768.
lets see if nvidia has taken the crown of image quality untill the r600 is released?
feel free to post shots of your g80`s running fear maxxed out to , ok the g80 will run this res maxxed out at about 100 or more fps , but thats not what this thread is about , it is image quality we want ....... let the fun begin

You are trying to compare apples and oranges, you should compare IQ between a crossfire x1950 and the 8800 xtx as the price point is similar.

Also there is no point trying to compare at those resolutions, the point of both the crossfire and the 8800 xtx are the fact they can handle high res without a loss in quality. With respect this is a rather pointless thread.

These aren't the 8800 but my "humble" 7950GX2... first one is taken with SLI AA and a bunch of other stuff... only 24fps for some reason - I'd have thought it should have been around 40 myself - will have to look into that... second one is using settings approx the same as yours, again tho I'm not that happy with the framerate, think something isn't set right.

Hmm what is quite interesting... my 7950GX2 with approx same settings as you, but in single GPU mode, not multi/SLI gets 75FPS in that scene - compared to 88 with multi-gpu enabled... thats quite impressive really - makes me laugh at the 7950GX doubters.

Ah hah! after changing to single card mode and then changing back to multi-gpu mode it seems to have reset something - now getting 145fps in that scene where I was getting 88fps in the screenshot.

Asgard , i don't think this is a war.

I personally would like to see the difference between the Imagequality.

I'm going to be honest here.

The lighting looks a lot better, not sure how to say it, but it looks "softer" - i'm sure the X1900s had a kind of "hard" lighting to them.

Apart from that, can't see much else difference, but then again, i'm not really sure what I should be looking for, lol.

[Edit] What game btw? Is that FEAR?

i never ment this thread to be a war and i am not an ati fan boy , just want to see the differance with image quality , it has long been said ati visuals were better than nvidias (this is the first ati card i have had) and yes i think the visuals on ati are superb look at the same pics from my card and the guy(sorry cant rem you name) that posted the same pic from his gx2?

I think you will find most 8800 owners will be playing games and won't be drawn into any more flame wars. Myself included.

Why are you posting then???? Game on chap. :)

Fair enough m8 and I'm sure most other people will agree with you. Lets keep it civil then.

I think fornowagain screenshots show of the differences nicely.

the brightness/gamma on mine is up quite a bit which tends to wash out the lighting thats all - on my monitor it actually looks the same brightness level as yours just the screenshot comes out brighter for some reason...

I gotta ask, what is wrong with the GX2?

It just looks... strange. Far too bright, can't someone adjust the gamma? :D
