8800GT Ramblings Thread

Are these new GT's going to need a PSU with two pcie power connecters?

Or can i run one fine on a seasonic 430w?

Cheers:)

Shame the release has been tainted by this really, but hey. They are released at least (even if not here). I'm waiting for reports of people camping at the doors of OCUK HQ ;)

I feel like I'm missing out, can I have a suspension please? ;)(JUST JOKING JohnnyG! :D)

Mate you want to stop looking for jaggies and play the game. 4X AA at 1920x1200 is more than acceptable.

I didn't buy a GTX to sit and use 4x because apparantly the resolution "doesn't need it".

I'm OCD with jaggies.

8xAA no less.

16xAA is the norm for me in most games, other than the recent games which is becoming harder to get away with.

If I didn't care about jaggies I'd sell up and get a PS2 :p

Meh.

I'll stick with my GTX.

Then when everyone panic's and sells their GTX's for sub £200 i'll buy annother one and SLI em :p

Also, from the Anandtech review, it's holding on to the coat tails of the GTX all the way up to 2560x1600, which requires nearly twice the bandwidth of 1920x1200 so it's already got some headroom for AA at 1920x1200, let alone lower resolutions.

Fuller reviews and tests will tell the full tale but, assuming it can cope with 4xAA without a major performance hit, anyone paying over twice as much for a GTX just so they can get 8xAA needs their head examined.

is it true that the GT is gonna be cheaper to buy than the GTS and more power full?
and reviews point out it uses less watts

I was at work so hit refresh at 2pm, saw the BFG 8800GT OC2 for £192, and ordered it from OcUK using my mobile, so I wasn't really able to check this thread.

Was it originally showing as ETA tomorrow - because its presently showing 9th November (maybe they sold tomorrows allocation) - or was it always that ? Did you notice ?

Obviously you'd be mad to buy a GTX NOW. But those who already have one don't really have any reason to sell for one of these, I certainly don't anyway. Maybe the GTS.

Good luck with that in Crysis.

It didn't say 9th November. There is no way I can wait until then

Just checked again and it now shows 9th November. The BFG OC and both EVGA cards still show 30/10.

Not sure what to do now. Cancel my OC2 and go for an OC instead? But I dont want to do that if its only 9/11 for people who ordered after the initial batch was sold or something. :(

Agreed, I'd sit tight for the GTS too in your shoes. The only serious reason to sell up now would be if GTX prices were about to start tumbling, but they'll probably hold firm for a few weeks at least.

Shame this has happen,Nvid failing to get stock to all on time , hope no one made a long trip to Ocuk shop:eek:,they will be well peeved.

So is it only a couple of days wait for stock to arrive, or longer ?
