Just buy a piece of crap PCIe card off the bay for a tenner to run Windows for a few weeks and stay off the games. Then wait until the GTS appears or more specs are released and make a more informed decision then.
 
well if i can play crysis at 1600x1200 or slightly lower with high or very high settings for prices ive seen them at then i will be very happy with one of these.i would not pay nearly double for a bit more x8 .id rather have the extra cash thankyou which would have paid for my new wii.
 
Well... i got my x1800xt for £144 + vat

And as if a sign from the gaming gods, it politely informed me today that it was running at 108 degrees and didnt much feel like playing TF2. (dodgy temp sensor ***)

So... its taking every ounce of optimism for the new amd/ati whatever series with every drop of pessimism that these cards dont scale with aa/af and wont be dx10 gods to stop me ordering right now.

Hopefully... hopefully I can distract myself with thoughts of a PS3 or... mass effect, and not break down and buy one before they drop in price or the amd response materialises.

But i probably cant...

Im guessing my horrific crysis beta performance is less to do with my x1800xt and more to do with underclocked ddr1 ram and a really old xp install... but the temptation to throw hardware at it...

Yeah thats what im going to do for now, one can assume the revised GTS will cost close to £300 for the top branded versions.
 
Be careful when pre-ordering new graphics cards. The only thing that tends to show up on the ETA dates are excuses. I speak from experience.
 
well, ordered 2 of em. eta wednesday to arrive, ill let everyone know how they run in sli as soon as poss.

if one doesnt work on my mobo, expect it to be sold on the MM sharpish to recover losses lol

Agreed. If its not in stock, don't part with you cash.

I would consider paying the prices listed, though feel there's at least a little shafting going on, but I will not get something on pre-order.

Next thing you know, its delayed, then its delayed more, bla bla bla, and if you want to cancel takes a while to get your money back...
 
Delvis, can you find a bigger pic m8? can't quite make out the power connectors on it...
 
what happened to the price? $199-$249 = £100 - £125
i see we in england are being screwed again!
oc price £146 - £193.
guess ill wait and see what ATI deliver.
