8800GT Ramblings Thread

Really not happy at the moment, ordered my OCUK 8800GT last night when the quantity was 10+ and checked this morning and they are out of stock. Mine is still in the warehouse queue so it defiently looks like it wont be here for Friday.

Not true i forgot to register my ultra with them so i emailed the support team and they said i will still get it.

Yeah its stupid that. I forgot to register my GTS its 3 months old. Its not really clear on the box to be honest. I emailed the support team on tuesday but not heard anything yet. Do you think they'll honour the 10 year warranty? What did they say to you?

It is true form an official point of view... that's what their website explicitly states. If their support team decide to grant you it then that's at their whim, and they could potentially refuse if they're told to.

It's still an underhand tactic which puts me off them now it's simple if you have a receipt and the card you purchased you should legally get the 10 year warranty whether you register it or not.Other products you don't need to register to get a warranty nor should you have to.

Yeah it doesn't sit well with me either to be honest. I may cancel my EVGA order and go with BFG... will likely cost me £15 extra though... :(

Here's a great threead to read: http://www.maximumpc.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=30251&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Did you use Google checkout to save £10 ? (salt / wound etc.)

Well Ozy thats a long story. Basically on tuesday night I chose google checkout and thought everything was hunky dory, only to get in from work last night to find that they had no record of my order when I rang them up. Got in touch with google checkout (who emailed back within 10 mintues - very good) to be told that they had sent my order but the e tailer had not actioned it. As there was only 2 inno's left I decided to buy it the usual way and got another order in. The e tailer then cancelled my google check out order for no reason:mad: = had to pay full price. No £10 discount.

Not very happy with the whole thing top be honest but its only £10 and life goes on.

On a positive note my inno 8800gt is waiting for me at home :D

Well i'll be getting mine tomorrow, getting the Asus, was going to get the BFG, but the Asus ones turned up today while i was in there enquiring if he's had any word on the BFG's yet, and he said the BFG's are on order, but doesn't know when they'll turn up, but i didnt take me card or any money, so i couldnt get one today :o, so ill be going back tomorrow for one. :p

I was gona hold out for the BFG, but seen as its only 25 extra on the core, and the shaders are only 1566 compared to 1500 on the Asus, and same memory of 1800, i thought no point, not like the BFG is gona be about 20 frames faster in everything, it'll probs not even be 1 frame. :D

well im gonna pick up one of these cards soon but i have a couple of questions if anyone could help

firstly here is my current system

AMD Athlon™ 64 FX-57 Processor
NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX Extreme Edition 256MB
SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC3200 Dual Channel Platinum Series
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium
Thermaltake Purepower 560W Psu
120gig Maxtor SATA
300gig Maxtor SATA

i have been told in another topic that my psu should be fine for this but i was wondering if its the same size as my current card? id also like to know how much of a bottleneck my processor is gonna cause & if my motherboard is going to be up to the job, im pretty sure it will be fine but i like to check these things before i spend money :P
