8800GT Ramblings Thread

It's made a big difference to Crysis. Its now more than playable on High and runs smooth as ice on Medium.

What resolution you at for that mate? I get lag when running it in high mode and prefer to play it in Medium. Oh, and are you on XP and is it at 0AA?

No running Vista x86 @ 1680x1050 mate.

I used to get that lag on high with the GTS but now it seems to have gone with the GT :)

Is it running better on medium though, as you said high was playable and medium is smooth. I'm at 1280x1024 and high is playable but for me, not enjoyable. I really think its a driver issue with Vista x64 & SLI.
When I enable SLI via Nvidias control panel, it loads the windows shut down box for a start, which says to me a bug with the driver. You have to enable SLI, then click apply, then press cancel on the windows shutdown/restart/sleep dialogue box and then the system is enabled.

Damn you!

I guess I could gain the extra few hundred raising my CPU a bit further but tbh I broke 13k, I will settle at that!

Strange thing I noticed too, the display adapter name is seen by riva and dxdiag etc as a GTS but the chip type is a GT - what's going on here!

Well my card just died... after just 6 hours of use...

I'm still hoping it's my motherboard playing up as it has happened before on X1800XT as well, had to swap cards a few times for it to work.

I want to test it on another mobo just to be sure before I issue a RMA request, but I don't have another mobo to test with. Anyone from Cheltenham?

Can I claim the first person on OCUK to fry a 8800GT? :p

What the? Did you overclock it too much or what?

I was running artifact scan on ati tool with the card @ 660/1000/1650 and screen went blank after a few minutes.

Restarted pc and it was giving me the "no GFX card found" beeps, no post, fan remains at 100% constantly...

Steve, I think it is more likely to be your board, as you have had the same problem b4.

If not, anyone want to buy a 8800GT never overclocked, lol!!!!!!!!! ;)
