8800GT Ramblings Thread

and their next killer blow will be the G92 GTS, if you don't have a card right now i'd sit tight for 2 weeks when the GTS is released and revaluate.

GT prices will drop a bit and i think this card will definitely be faster than a Ultra upto 1920x1200.

they state a RRP of 300-350 dollars.

you'd think on launch £220 at a minimum if they go for $300, more likely to be about $350 on launch so £250/260 or thereabouts sounds right to me.

apparently these are compatible with TRI-SLI lol

If the new GTS is like £220 would this mean that GT prices wont get pushed down?

I'm hoping of getting around 150 quid inc P&P for my 8800GT and getting a new 8800GTS possibly, only recently felt the demand for the new GTS to play crysis abit smoother using same settings as I do now.

My 8800GT is on the way with a Razer Diamondback and the Accelero S1 with a nifty exhaust fan for underneath it. Saturday delivery. :D

Made 80 quid off my GTX too. :D:D:D

Crysis would be the only reason for me to upgrade too. But i guess I will have finished it by Dec 3rd.

I dont see any point in upgrading right now, I can run crysis on high with acceptable frame rates and it feels smooth for me and with some tweaks looks awsome, so no point to upgrade, good really coz my PC is gonna have to wait now.

You will gain a few frames, if that, crysis is a GFX card killer, were going to need the proper next gen cards to get comfortable fps through the majority of the game, some areas in the game get good fps but enter a major area and the fps hit is just not nice, especially the bit were the two tanks come, that on high in XP is a lag fest.

Hi, does anyone know if:
A 8800GT will fit in a Shuttle SN25P?
and
Would it be safe to run on a 350w power supply even though it requires a 425w?

Thanks

350W .. no chance ...

you will need 500W minimum for the GT, you also need to look at the +12V rail on your PSU as you will need at least 20-22A here. Unless it is dual railed.

what make is your PSU ?

quality can make all the difference ..

An entire system under load (3ghz core 2) uses about 250w so there is no way you need a minimum of 500w.

It'll be fine mOdO.

650W minimum for a bare bones PC setup ..

Again, way over the top, these cards have a max TDP of 110w.

The system used for the Guru3d tests used 275w with one card, from the wall. Based on a good efficiency of 85% the entire system was only using 233 watts. A good 400w PSU minimum, 520w Corsair if you have quite a few HDs or a quad core.

This is really silly, Test Drive Unlimited is crashing all the time, however every other game i run (Call of duty 4, TF2, Portal, Battlefield 2, Guild Wars etc) are all working fine, must be down to bad game coding. my card isn overheating doesnt go over 67 Degrees when in 3D mode.

Does anyone else experience crashing in Test Drive?

So looking at my spec in my sig, would you say its ok ?..

Just talking to willhub about it on msn thats all :p An ive just sold my 360 in the MM and i might buy another one lol ( I know i have to get a sli mobo )

I would say so, you have an extra HD and the X-fi so you're looking at about 40w more than the Guru3d system but that still only makes it about 390w under load.

Hmmm might do it as a little experiment. Never done sli or crossfire before, and intresting to see what happens.

O my xfi isnt in my rig atm, its for sale in MM. But im thinking of keeping it :)
