8800GT Ramblings Thread

Meh.. :(

Went to pick up my EVGA card from my local dealer and they hadnt got them yet  They where supposed to be getting both BFG and EVGA in today, I placed a pre-order on a EVGA version. But only the BFG came in and they all got sold today

Gotta wait till Monday now :( ( A long time i know :p )

Does anyone know what's happened to the BFG OC2 cards? They're not on for sale anywhere and it's even been removed from BFG's site?

Were they ever on there? I checked BFG's site last week when the GT's were released and didn't see them then

Same except I've only had mine since the 3rd :P.

If I can afford to sell my 8800GT and get a GTX when prices come down or the next highish end card I probs will just for something new to mess around with.

tbh i reckon the new GTS coming out soon will surely be the better future toy if you get bored? :)

Just installed my GT along with the 169.02 drivers and i have the two texture filtering options greyed out which i`m not able to change?

...this is normal - it's because you have chosen high quality for the Texture filtering - quality. If you change it down to say, Quality then you'll be able to adjust the other options that are 'grayed out' in your pic.

Mine just got here, it's in now. :D

meh,

been waiting since the 31st of october.... still nothing. Im getting seriously ****** off with the service. (not OcUK) I was given a 30 pound refund for the delays and the fact the guy lied to me about availability, however thats not much compensation when you havent anyhting to play games on.

Having to use a compaq presario peice of poo, single core and an fx5200 128mb gpu = SLOW......

bah, i'll stop moaning now
bay traders... **leaves room mumbling under breath**

Get the kettle on...... :D.

Seriously..... nice one!!!!!. Hope you have fun making your GTX purchase seem silly (just having a laugh). You should still get a decent price for your GTX ;) so not such a great loss and some Lea and Perrins for that toast n cheese all to come :D.

just emailed the supplier of my card, apparently he has an XFX alpha dog (oc 640/1900) waitng to leave his supplier now, so i should have an exact delivery date by tommorow, although you can bet it wont arrive untill moday or tuesday next week.

Bit gutted its an XFX, as rma situation is poor to say the least, but tbh, i wont keep the card for more than 12 months, as im sure a dual gpu card will wet my appetite next year..

well as long as the waiting is almost over, i might be happy.... now to order crysis

A 8800GT card on its own has a recommended retail price of $250 =£120 British pounds + VAT = £141
As for Some e-tailors inflating the prices on pre orders, God only knows! People will just cancel and buy somewhere else.

Doesn't work that way mate.

You haven't included business taxes paid in the UK or the fact that suppliers have different price points for different regions.

You can't presume that ATI will sell their products in Europe at the same price.

I'm not sure if you can order from US but you'd have a bit of a wait and you'd have to find one that was willing to ship to you. (It's hard enough trying to find Pan-European e-tailors nevermind intercontinental ones)

OCUK do it but their prices would have to be at least 25€ less than local prices to make the hefty postage fee (22 quid to Europe) worth it. (I used them for my 7600GT and other things as they usually have great deals on GFX cards and their ram is cheaper than the continent for some reason :S )

Change the Texture Filtering Quality from High Quality to any of the others and they ungrey so you can change em. :)

I don't know what they do though as i keep it on High Quality.

Ignore me, just seen its already been answered, now, wheres me glasses. :p

LOL the farse continues on my quest to get a GT,

after being told yesterday I would be receiving an XFX alpha dog card, i received an email today saying they are also out of stock (again)

so I'll be getting an MSI card (660/1900) in the next few days (monday probably) jeez, just send me a card, i have been waiting since the 31st of october!

Why the **** did Nvidia bring the release date ofrward without sufficent stock in suppliers hands i'll never know!

It sounds like your supplier is the n00b here. I'd be extremely unimpressed if I was in your shoes.
More than likely Nivida brought the date forward to throw a spanner into ATI's recent launch, worked nicely.

yep i think thats the case, he shouldnt really advertise them if he cant get them!

However he has given me a 30 quid refund for all the p***ing about, and I'll get an OC card not a bog standard.......

still 3 weeks with no gaming sucks..

My PS2 is like playing on a spectrum 48k.... abysmal to say the least...
