8800GT Stock?

Marketing of course. I bought the bog standard one, and compared it to my current Inno3d, and it's the same size. The Inno3d card clocked better so I kept that one ;)

edit: rechecked the linked to see it's a model that's not sold in euroland yet, so maybe that version does have a slightly larger fan, but it doesn't say how much bigger it is, suffice to say it won't make one iota of difference cos the cooler on the card is very poor to begin with.

Appreciated but the card in the pic is definitely different to the ones on OcUK:)
 
I have just done some research and the card with a 625 core is different to the other cards. I have seen this card on onother site which has the black board, bigger fan and metal bracket. Looks like OcUK isnt stocking this card.

I was just wondering if the 40 that were meant to be coming in on Friday did, cos if so I didn't get one of those and will have to wait until the next batch.
 
the problem i have is, (on vista 64) when i log on to vista i have no dvd device (this wasnt happening before i installed the GT) but it is there in windows x64 (i am really glad i have a dual boot system now or i would be tearing my hair out)

I remember seeing a registry script you can run once that is supposed to fix cd/dvd disapearing issues. I cant seem to find it now though, but i arnt panicing quite yet lol

my power supply is over the min spec for the card, so i dont think it is a lack of power issue

(card wants 400w and a 26a 12v rack. mine is 500w witha 28a 12v)
 
no havent tried a diff dvd drive, becasue it is working fine in windows x64, but not in vista at the moment, so it definatly isnt a faulty drive.

Also the drive is less that 2 weeks old

its an asus motherboard (from overclockers)
an asus lightscribe dvd
an asus 8800 gt (from overclockers)

could it be a vista incompatibility? shouldnt think so somehow

ok I seem to have fixed the dvd problem

strangely all i did is go into bios, and save bios (withut making any change and voila my dvd is back in vista lol)

I am guessing vista got a bit confused with changing the graphics card, because i didnt "uninstall" the drivers for my old card

as a side question, does any body play soldier of fortune payback, im having some problems that i didnt notice before (after playing for a few minutes, i am sometimes gettign what feels like lag stutter and then the game will freeze/ graphics will break up and have to restart pc to fix it)

I think we will be seeing a big influx of GT's next week.

many suppliers including ocuk stating stock dates for early - mid next week

hopefully plenty of EVGA's will be part of this influx ....

Hmmm. Ordered a Zotac AMP today as it said they were incoming 26/11/07 only to read now that these are all taken. Slightly peeved to be honest! Having an ETA for non-available stock is slightly misleading.

Gibbo - Any idea when you're going to get more stock of the Zotac AMP in?

however, where did you read that ??

The zotacs due tomorrow should not have been already allocated to backorders as a new ETA date will be set if there are not enough to satisfy demand.

that's terrible ... :eek:

new customers who are not aware of the stock situation will order cards on the basis of the supplied information and if ocuk know that no cards are available on this date then it needs to be changed accordingly.

when cards are ordered your money is taken regardless of the stock situation.

simply not on :mad:

Gibbo can let me know an ETA on any more of these cards coming in? If it's ages I'd rather cancel the order as I no longer have a graphics card (sold it) and will have to order elsewhere.
