8800GT Stock?

It depends on amperage on the 12V rail. For example, if I'm correct for an 8800GT one would need 22 Amps on the 12V rail... (uhh and the PSU must be at least 440W!)

Yes thats true, I presume the 2900 requires about 28/30A. The shuttle PSU cannot provide that afaik, as per the specs.

Infact the SN35P2 Pro has a 400W PSU, so I made a mistake on that - although still not sure on the 12v amperage.

Yeah I seen a few people have an amazing amount of hardware running in a tiny shuttle but thats the first time I have seen a HD2900XT thrown into the mix, thats got a hefty power requirement all by itself.

How long had your Bro been running that set-up?

Only about a month so far :D Still time to see how it goes..

Hey all
I ordered my EVGA 8800GT SC (Crysis) the other day so hopefully stock will arrive tomorrow and ill get the card on friday.
Currently i have a whole brand new PC i cant use :(

Anyway ive been following benchmarks for the 8800GT but im not sure which ones apply to me as i run at 1440x900 (widescreen) should the benchmarks for 1280x1024 be resonably comparable? (I cant see why not but i thought i should check)

Are the OC'd versions really noticably faster/better than the vanilla ones?
I.e BFG OC2 £213inc or standard POV for £45 less?

Gibbo,

Any ideas as to when the next batch of Zotec AMP's are due in ??

Wanted one yesterday to complete my new build but looks like I'll have to wait :(

Should be.

1280x1024 = 1,310,720
1440x900 = 1,296,000

If i understand the figures correctly, you should get at least the same or slightly better performance at your res.

Welcome to OC BTW ;)

Thanks for the quick answer and the welcome (long time lurker but first time poster :p )

Thats about what i figured. Going to be one hell of a step up from my current system.

Sempron 2800 ---> Quad Core Q6600
x800 AGP ----> 8800GT PCI-E

I agree just buy a cheap stock one and use nibitor to edit the bios file and flash to a stable OC with NVflash. Use an OC app like CoolBits (or whatever) to test the OC first though don't just assume your card can do 700/1000(2000) without flaking out with artifacts and overheating.

I'm running an Athlon X2 4200+ (overclocked 10%), 2 HDDs, DVD ROM drive, 8800GT, Audigy sound card off a 350W continous, 450W peak PSU. No probs whatsoever.

I had read the PSU recommendation for the 8800GT on the EVGA site. It's very likely that they err on the side of caution and that lower-powered PSU's are able to give performance to the GT. :)

Btw any guys who have got their BFG OC2 and installed it? Comments?

I still got a couple of days before I get my card, probably it's on a plane right now, and can only drool at your experience and anticipate the joy... :D
