it so does but kills ** framerate really! Multisampling allows it to run amazing :D

Hmm, im running it 2xAA/16xAF high quality textures, HDR on, and Supersampling on, runs great here, i did have to knock the AA down as it was quite a hit, was well choppy in places (as i was on 16x :D ), so i tried knocking the AA down as i wanted to keep the Supersampling on as it looks awesome, and 2xAA seems to be the sweet spot, runs perfect, tested with fraps and just dropping from 4xAA to 2xAA gives you 20fps back, runs sweet as now.

Not sure on overclocking, but you can use Ntune to monitor the temps, you might be able to use Ntune to clock actually if you do it manually, not sure though. :)

Awesome cards, i still havn't got over the price yet.

I just realised that all my 3D marks are up about 4-5k over my x1800 XT 512mb.

03 x1800 got about 19.8k, GTS gets about 25.5k

05 x1800 got about 9.2k, GTS gets about 14.3k

06 x1800 got about 4.7k, GTS got about 8,841.

The gaming performance even decimates the x1800 as well.

Broke 10k. 10250. to be exact. CPU is at 2.93ghz, core on the GFX card is at 650mhz and the memory is at 900mhz.

I'm amazed so far, not had one crash or or lock up the whole way, the card seems to be handling the new setting more than nicely.

anyone running a custom fan profile? if so did u use ntune or rivatuner, what settings for idle and load do you use and does either program have to be permanently running in the system tray to keep the profile enabled.

Yeah it does, after seeing what it looked like over Multi, i had to get it on at all costs, and if it means only 2xAA then so be it!!!. :D

EDIT: Just ran it with fraps on to see how well it was running, so with 2xAA/16xAF maxed out with Supersampling im getting between 40-60fps (v-sync on) outdoors, even in heavy foliage compared to Multi where i was getting 44-60fps (v-sync on), plus i had more AA on while using Multisampling, so thats awesome i think, dropped AA down and sacrificed 4fps as well so i can have Supersampling on, looks incredible even with just the 2xAA, doesn't even go any lower when in combat as i just took out a guy with a big axe, and a wolf.

Just managed to get one to fit and working in an Arctic Cooling T1 Case (old 350W one), despite the claims that it requires a minimum of 450W and preferably more. It has taken my 3DMark05 score up from about 8000 to 10500 which is slightly disappointing but I probably need to upgrade the rest of my rig to really see the jump properly.
Just to prove that the Vista drivers are absolute garbage:- Just run 3DMark05 on XP and my score's shot up to 12269. That's one hell of a difference.

Don't wanna sound like a numpty, but what does "supersampling" do?

It's related to AA. I think it allows for extra samples to be added to smooth out lines that are obscured by objects in the foreground. The classic example is looking at things through a chain-linked fence (normally the chain link fence will ruin the smooth lines on the other side), but the difference it makes in a world with loads of leaves and foliage is much more pronounced. Trees especially look great in Oblivion with Supersampling. Everything appears smoother and crisper no matter how many layers you are looking through.

Im amazed at these coolers, ive just played a solid hr of Oblivion maxed to the hilt 1280x1024, 2xAA/16xAF HDR on, Supersampling on the lot, was expecting about 80-90, as it ildes about 54, and my x1800 idled around the same, but that used to go up to about 74-75 underload, anyway came out of Oblivion checked the temp, and it was only doing 68!!!! incredible.

Your comments alone really do want to make me buy this card, but my bank manager says no :(

Loadsa now running at ** Oblivion settings ;) awesome stuff mate :D

The temps are superb, me and u are showing up exactly the same so far in terms of that, I still cant get ove rhow quiet it is either

How about this, Gainward Bliss 8800GTS 640Mb version for £257. I know I don't need the additional 320MB just now but when DX10 comes along and games start shoving more in your face I think the extra 57 quid will have been worth it. Just waiting till they have it in stock then I am getting one.

I don't subscribe to this 'future prOOf ideal', I would suggest you pay money for what you can use and benefit from 'now'

Of course for those people that maybe only upgrade their VGA cards every 3 years then fair enough, but in essence you wanna install your new hardware, set-up the drivers and sit back and go 'wow!'

not

'ok if that game comes out in 6 months I will be able to run it'

My view is if you are spending 260 on a 640 mb gts you might aswell go the extra and get a GTX

You say its only 60 quid more than the 320MB version but the GTX is only 100 more thna the 640 mb version.

only thing is 60 quid for the 640 mb version will not get you 60 quids worth more of perfromance over the 320mb.As they are practically the same speed cards.

getting a GTX will.

I think you either get a 199 320mb or a go the whole hog and get a GTX
