How is this possible as you cant offer a refund as the card wasnt purchased from you.... or can you??

Just to confirm, I have been issued an RMA number today from a different etailer in the Bolton area... Only took a week to come through

Now, to buy a new AMD or a second hand one until the 300 series? Decisions...

Hi Gibbo, just a quick question mate, I've ordered a 980 HOF edition today so I'm not without a card, the 970s I'm returning will I be getting a refund back in to my bank?

Thanks

I just want to thank Overclockers for taking a direct stand on this regardless of board manufacturers to ensure their customers are happy.

I have always bought Asus products where i can as i do believe in their quality and have never had a problem with their performance.

However due to the total lack of support they have shown retailers trying to sort this mess out and the total bullsh*t email they sent me which is somehow classed as a reply to help me they can get bent.

From this point on no money i mine will go to Asus's pokets.

What brands would people recommend instead of Asus, im kinda lost now lol.

Thanks again OcUK

Haha sounds like you got the same response as me! I own a lot of Asus products and to be fair at this point, I don't think I will invest in another.

Yeah I really don't see what all the fuss is about, the only game that makes this an issue is Shadow of Mordor... and even then the card doesn't have 6GB to begin with so again it makes it a complete non-issue xD

Therein lies the conundrum... and it's why I don't necessarily see a jump to 980's a sensible move, simply because if you're already within that dodgy 3.5-4GB range on 970s, sure the 980 will be fine within that band... but the moment you exceed 4GB (which you're obviously running very close to if you're already above 3.5GB), then you're going to run in to problems either way. And at 6GB usage (as SOM seems quite capable of), even a £1K uber 980 SLI set-up isn't going to help you very much! There's also the concern that more and more games are going to be pushing that 4GB limit. Will be interesting to see what GTAV demands. We could be seeing a lot of irate 980 owners then lol!

Nvidia need to start selling something more than 4GB of ram so that I can use my 4K gsync monitor!

Come on gibbo....
He said he's already been on at them about it, for some time now. They will no doubt release an 8GB card at some point (won't be cheap though), and I'm surprised they haven't at least announced one tbh, given the AMD 8GB cards have been out for a while now. They'd clean up for sure, as there is certainly the demand what with 4K on the rise. I'd be surprised if AMD don't offer an 8GB card with the 380X though... it would be suicide if they didn't, and by doing so they would steal a boat load of sales from Nvidia, especially if they get one to market first!
