9900KS...

I guess if you already have a 9900k this is mild upgrade, will still cost at least £200 to do so though assuming prices in the market and the assumed price this will release at ($600?).

Anyone who 'upgrades' to the 9900KS from a 9900K falls into the category of being certifiably nuts. If they really feel the 9900K isn't fast enough then they'd be far better off just saving the money and putting it towards the new 10 core chips coming in Q1 2020, with the new Z490 sockets.

But....epeen

Sometimes I don't get this forum. On one hand they go on like rich people you only buy the best, they act like you're on tight budgets that you're so poor, fast cars, computers, homes then you get "epeen" posts. So which is it? because I see a lot of inconsistency.

If they want to upgrade to a KS from a K so what...

I think its clear by now that they are trying to release same time as amd
and being as they said october they will announce it on the last couple of days of the month
with stock turning up at retail for sale close to amd's release

quite why i have no idea as the 9900ks isnt in the same league for non gaming tasks
at a guess i would say to take press away from amd's release

What did you pump into it?

Ironically it was stock, as I had just used the BIOS flash back on the board. The board was never right from day one to be honest as memory would boot one day and not the next. It’s not what you would expect from a fairly expensive board.

Not sure why they're "surprised" the price is that low. I'm surprised it's that high. I'd have thought at the very least they'd be replacing the i9-9900K with a stop-gap very minor upgrade but I guess they're going to keep the i9-9900K going alongside it for the bottom 99% of chips they make, which means either i9-9900K would have to drop in price or the i9-9900KS would need to be more.

What an odd price, $513

..I wonder why not $512 or $514 :)

..Doesn't really matter anyway, in 6mths you'll be able to get Intel's 'next gen' 8c16t CPU for about £350.
