A battlefield2 thread

Hey,

I'm installing BF2 now, I bought it back in 2005 when it came out but I gave online gaming a break last year but I feel like getting back into BF2. I used to be able to play BF2 on the highest settings at 1280x1024. But I have a new 22" widescreen monitor which is 1650x1050 any ideas what FPS I would get if I played at high settings?

Spec is in sig :).

Also do more people play the add on packs for BF2 like Project Reality or just normal BF2?

Thanks.

You'd be able to play BF2 maxed out with that rig, 4xAA and 16xAF. Vanilla BF2 is still massively popular, the mods are all less popular but with the new PR out you should have no problems finding good games.

COD4 came out & after over 2 years of flat out BF2 i was drawn away.
Then i got my 360 & kept myself away from gaming on my PC so that i could get used to the 360 controller quicker. I've played COD4 on the 360 for a few weeks & what i think compared to PC is for another thread.
Anyway i went on BF2 the other day to do a guy a favour & realised that BF2 is the game for me. Always has & always will be by the looks of it.
I dropped straight into a few 64 man Infantry battles & was instantly at home again.
I've said it once & I'll say it again 64 man Infantry only BF2 servers are my online gaming Heaven. Having tried another type of gaming recently i can safely say that BF2 is still Number 1 for me

I can not agree more, the 64 player IO maps are great for carnage, game play, team work, and lone wolf. I love the city maps, just wish there were afew more to play on. Also Gulf of Oman is good for infantry play as well.
What servers have you been on ?

I'm not sure if I should make a new thread but I suppose all the BF2'ers on the forums most likely read this thread from time to time. Anyway I've been trying to install BF2 on my PC but it keep getting different errors sometimes it will say there was an error occured when trying to write a file or it will say "Install failed please retry from the beginning". I'm thinking it could be a problem with Windows Vista 64-bit?

Anyone else had issues like this, I'm sure that BF2 would work on Vista 64-bit?

Works fine on Vista-64 here, sounds like you may have a broken DVD. Have you tried it on anyone elses PC?

BF2 itself is still going very strong, I tried the reality mod but found it took the fun away from the original. Depends what you are looking for though.

I know its the sound of my AK cracking your skull , :).

Simply put BF2 with good sqaud play and Voip TS or Ventrillo is on line gaming heaven .

I still try all the new games to see of something can top it but nothing has come near in 2 years . Yes its buggy , yes haxors ,glitchers and macros users get on yer toots but it still rocks my world ..

1650 hours play time and I am still poop http://www.bf2player.com/index.php?page=stats&account=65414354&show=all-e

Couldn't of put it better myself. Played it since 1 second past 9am on day one & was playing it last night & every night since, Just about. I had a break for a few weeks to get used to my 360 but am back on it now flat out. Over two accounts i must have racked up around 3 thousand hours online. Any time i play anything else i just think **** i could be playing BF2 so switch discs & go back to BF2. COD4 kept me entertained for about 4 weeks & is ok for a bit of in your face Brutality but as always i come back to BF2.
64 man BF2 Infantry only servers are my gaming Heaven

So, how many people are still regularly playing this?

Still worth getting it even with Frontlines coming next month, which looks pretty similar although I may be wrong about that?

Not played bf2 since befire christmas but its still pretty much alive and well.

Lots of servers and people still out there.
Sniper servers are the best i think, but i just don't get the time to play nowadays.

BF2 is still alive and well, yes. Sniper servers are far from what I'd call the best though. Infantry only is the way for me

stopped playing BF2 one year ago....... people started spamming Jet planes.

1 Jet kills 34 players every 30 seconds. I moved to BF2142 then to COD4 and tf2......I find the later two more fun than BF2 period.

But yes m8, tones of people are still playing this game.

Well may be time to hang up the old M16

I never even got the butter bar rank in bf2, all my kills (4000 ish) were sniper kills, so it took a while to get before half way rank wise.

I love bf2, what i dont love is no EA support, punkbuster messing around with itself, and random CTD's with not even a log file to say why.
