A battlefield2 thread

I still play the demo with guys in the office sometimes! Oman is the best map :) ...one of my best online gaming memories comes from first storming the US ship with my squad in a RIB... game went from awesome terrain to seamlessly cool indoor Rainbow Six style and I knew it was something special, especially when I got guys respawning with me (being Squad Leader).

BF2142 seems so dark, and there is all those future weapons to learn, and speacial areas and uses for them. BF2 is straight forward, AK47, M16 piont and shoot.

That is exactly how I feel about 2142, I pre ordered it after playing and loving BF2 but never got the same vibe out of 2142. its hard to put a finger on it but BF2 just seems a lot better to me and I still play it daily even now 2 years after it was released.
 
see i actually prefer 2142, though i only ever play 1 map i really enjoy it. It the best map for people vs people which i prefer, odn't really like machines, and also the guns, extras etc in 2142 i much prefer.

what i would like to see is inside maps, like inside a massive buiding, and mission based maps, not just ctf but ones like defend the bridge, if destroyed, then defend the so and so, then if destroyed defends next thing etc, would add a bit of variaty to the game.

I thing some one else in the thread has mentioned this all ready. BF2 is old now, so the R&D is going to be very limited. Unless some people can do what Soldier of Fortune allowed, and that was for people to write there owb maps. using buildings suppiled by the game Company.
 
Theres lots of mods for bf2 though. FH2 came out recently. Theres a new patch for PR out at the year end

In the next release after that PR will have at least one new building (a mosque) you can go inside as well as a recreation of the Al Muttrah city port town with the USMC launching a carrirer assault

I've just been playing the game as it comes. What mods do people install?Does this make the game unstable ect. Could sombody please link me to a good mod.

Project Reality is the only mod I've played for BF2. It's so much different to vanilla, I love it but it's not for everyone. It's a slower, more tactical experience requiring genuine squad work and a microphone helps a lot.

Read some of the guide here to get an idea about it.

Can't comment on stability of other mods but PR is fine and won't affect stability of the normal game anyway. Graphics are improved so system requirements go up espcially RAM but you'll have no probs
 
I bought bf2142 a couple weeks ago and played it a dozen times or so. I prefer BF2 and the Special forces expansion, 2142 is just overly complicated without enhancing the gameplay.
When is BF3 out? :(
 
Can anyone tell me if it is possible for someone with special forces to play on another persons account so that they can get the sniper unlock?
 
Tempted to offer a paypal payment for someone with it to unlock them for me as none of the stores near here have it.
