A battlefield2 thread

Recently re-installed it and the infantry only karkand 64 player games are the best - to this day it's still the only game that makes proper use of squads ... you just get owned if you're not making proper use of the squad system!
 
I know what you mean dude, I am slowly drifting away from PC gaming now and BF2 is the only game I still find enjoyable on the PC.

I am having problems with Punk Buster in BF2.
Everty time I join a server I get this message;

Punk Buster Kicked 'Tysonator1'
Restriction; Service Communication Failure PnkBstrA.exe

I can see what is going on.
I do not have the above file on my PC. The pbsetup.exe in the pb folder of BF2 is allowed throught the MS Vista Firewall.

I have search google with varying results and opinions on what action is needed. There does not seem to be any clear solution on this !

I can play my fav game !
 
I have tried running PunkBuster manual from the pb folder in BF2 Folders, no joy.
The pb file i am using I did get from the link above, as all the srceen shots look the same as what I see on my monitor !

I am at a loss on this !

I am using a router, so do I have to give it port number perhaps ?
 
I had a similar problem to that kept getting kicked off servers, no amount of updating helped only way I could fix it was a re-install of the game.
 
All I have ever done to update my PunkBuster is download the PBsetup from the link posted .... then run it (normally from desktop) .. select BF2 and let it update BF2 ... once done I delete it and all the other PB related icons off my desktop.

You need to make sure PnkbstrA.exe is started in your services list, if it or PnkbstrB.exe is not running then you will get kicked - it's the same in NFS:PS and COD4. Also I removed the "Battlefield 2" folder from "My Documents" it caches a lot of stuff.

You can try doing a manual update of the PB client and server files - It's explained on the website.
 
..yeah sure I'll pop on the odd time .... game is still good laugh esp. as a squad on TS but the stats thing is so messed up now and EA (some say never did) don't care anymore. If you do start a server my advice would be to play on a new account that way if you have a decent ranked account it won't get screwed over when you kick / ban someone .... honestly accounts gettin hacked is beyond the joke now.
 
other than the web browser cartoon version, will there be another battlefield pc game in the future? i miss my 'desert combat' fix :)
 
fairly certain number 3 will be out in like a year or something like that, and also there is another but i think it's just consoles which is more levels based and you can blow up things a lot more like fully destroy the buildings.

may be wrong as haven't heard this stuff in a long time so is only from a very old memory

I have recently installed the game on my new PC, so the cache folder has nothing in it !
On pb web site I can not see where to down load the files PnkbstrA.exe & PnkbstrB.exe ! !
What do these files do ! ?
All I have in my pb folder is pbsetup.exe !
