A battlefield2 thread

Works perfectly fine, the only issue I had (with my 8800) was if I installed the expansion and patches in a certain order I got some error when loading. As mentioned before it's as popular as it's always been, and if you don't have SF find someone with the game to login and play for a bit and you'll be able to get all the SF unlocks.

Which server was that on? Sounds like a bad pickup, you shouldnt have been given time to aim, they were too slow

www.gametracker.com

I was on the RIP server. They didn't do anything wrong just bad luck I spotted them and that I like to have the HAT just for such occations. I suppose it would have been smarter if they had people covering the hills while they waited for the stragglers to get onboard.

Install BF2 then the latest 1.41 patch (a single patch containing all proceeding patches).

If you also want to install Special Forces, make sure you've already done the above, then install SF and finally re-apply the 1.41 patch.

Is anyone else experiencing issues with the different sound options?

I only ask because i changed it from software to hardware last night and everything sounds great (much better than software) apart from the radio chat. All radio chat seems to stutter or lag. Changed back to software and all is well but the weapon/effects and other sounds seem muffled in comparison. Though with it on the hardware setting it is not playable because the radio stutter is so annoying.

Has anyone got a fix for this or is it just because i have onboard sound (Realtek ALC883)?

When I install bf2, should I just download the latest patch and install it or install some in order?

Either

BF2 + 1.41 cummulative patch
or
BF2 + SF + 1.41 cummulative patch (Did this myself only the other day & it works Perfectly)
or
BF2 + 1.41 cummulative patch + get somebody you Trust who owns SF to log into your account & play a round & you will get all the unlocks added to your account for unlocking when you get there.

SF is worth getting though as it's uber cheap & the maps are great for IO.

you can try replacing

:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2OpenAL.dll

with either...

OpenAL32.dll
or
wrap_oal.dll

should be in your windows\system32 folder. You can grab the install from here but you may find yours are newer as some games come with them.

just rename that bf2openal.dll or back it up to somewhere then copy in one of those files and rename it.

try it with both and see which one works best.

not sure if this is still the fix or does much tbh but it was one that always used to get posted.

Its starting to be annoying when playing on certain clan servers and I might eventually get kicked/banned by one of their members due to finding me a pain in their neck(since they are on the opposite side). That might happen even when I have been constantly on the server for weeks and have played in teams alongside these same people. They know very well Im neither cheating nor breaking the server rules so they would just ban me for "excessive teamkilling" even when none are done.

You can complain about bans like that on ranked servers in theory. Some servers will ban anyone who uses vehicles and isnt admin, etc or the knife and pistol servers were also acted against

I mostly play on infantry based servers and knife+pistol only ones dont attract me anyway. Its just that when it comes to clan servers, there seems to often be someone among admins that would be kicking/banning as they please. I even try to come back(if only kicked) merely to ask why(after all, I can go elsewhere), just to get another kick or straight ban. I suppose they can do whatever they want since they pay for their server but,to me, having lame admins is just as detrimental to the game as having lame players that are allowed to mess around and arent getting kicked(which is the argument for having a bunch of admins).

Lame admins are a problem sometimes.

I remember when i was trying to get some pistol badge i went on a random knife and pistol only server which had about 18 people on of which about 10 were clan/admin. I kept killing one guy so he started using his main weapon so i politely asked him to chuck it then i got kicked with an abusive message:mad::mad::mad: RAGIN

i used to have that problem, i don't consider myself an excelent player but i do used to usally be in the top 5 every time, because me and my clan were really good and team playing. But when we lost our server and when we went into other server we would get kicked for CHEATING??? :| just because the other side was rubbish.

When we used to have a server and an amaizing clan kicked our ass, we would ask them to come back so we could get even better, and we would respect them for being amaizing, we would actully sit there on TS and be like WTF HE WIPPED US ALL OUT, MAN THERE GOOD.

Kicking people for being good sucks.

Best way to deal with annoying admins is to wait for them to get in a tank, then constantly "accidently" ram his tank with a jeep, and say sorry! works a treat!

(Warning: You may get banned!)

I play this now....its really very good

get it from here http://www.aixtended.com/

AIX is purely a single player, multiplayer and coop focused mod for Battlefield 2. The developers have created what they think should have been the single player experience that was sadly lacking in the original game.

Download is 726.46MB

Map pack a whopping 1.19GB

I play this :D

just ben aplying a bit of SP AIX. seems pretty cool :D nice music and maps. love the fact u can fly the sr-71 blackbird (even tho it was surveillance) :) but the maps need to be a bit bigger for this plane i think, only takes a few secs to get from one edge to the other :p and taking off takes some getting used to, have to full boost or ur not going fast enough to pull up, but doing that u have to pull up really quick or u'll smash into what ever is at the end of the runway :D hehe

I've not played BF2 since BF2142 came out and i'm getting bored with the little time I now play on 2142 and conisdering how crap 1943 will probably be and with BC2 not coming out until the end of the year i'm now in the mood to go back to BF2 and the SF pack which i've never played before.

The original BF2 dvd was thrown out when moving house a few year ago a long with the serial number, so obviously need to buy the game again.
If anyone can help with the following questions I have :

Will I be able to log into the old account with the new serial number ?

And if possible what details are needed to log into the account again ?

Is the username required or is it the email address that the account was created with. I can't remember the username but i'm sure I remember the password ... unless I kept the same username for 2142, but for the life of me can't recall to over two and half year ago ...

The original account had a lot of unlocks but if i've to start with a new account then I might not bother.
