A battlefield2 thread

Only bought this the other week when it was on special in a high street store, really love it. Bunny hopping is a bit annoying but still had a few good games. Cant fly a plane or helicopter to save my lift though, lol :)

Bunny Hopping still goes on and will depending on the server your on .... I got kicked yesterday for hopping ...... I always jump when I throw a nade for distance ( and no I wasnt being shot at at the time) ..... best thing with a bunny hopper is shoot them and jump all over their face ;)

I like the saying "It's war, deal with it" when it comes to the imbalances in the game...

Maybe it's because I've been playing games for so long and remember just how rigid and unforgiving they could be but I tend to agree with that line of thinking.

To my mind the whole thing with games is (was?) to learn how they played and how to play them, I'd concede it is slightly different with online games where a sense of fair play and sportsmanship can be need, things like not using artillery on or attacking the uncaps in BF2, but I don't get this constant need to change a game into something it isn't.

All this 'I'd really like BF2 if only...', if we had all the 'if onlys' changed then it wouldn't be BF2! It'd be some other game. Either play it for what it is, warts and all, or play something else.

Got back into this game again - still love it :)

Must have played for 8hours yesterday on Win7 with no Punkbuster issues at all

Was playing on the one of the most strict servers I've ever played on at one point.

Usual no Clays & C4, but no nades or camping either. Got kicked for sniping up the crane in Sharqi

It was actually quite good tbh, karkand can turn into a nade fest really easily if you aren't too careful

DAM STRAIGHT!

The things that annoy me most are other players, the hackers, griefers etc the game has its bugs/flaws but i love it and wouldnt change it that much.

Maybe the hit detection...... :p

chaosophy you have hit the nail on the head! I've been trying to find the right way to say that for ages now!

On the note of what to and what not change, I'd like commentry on what I think should be done (or not):

http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/battlefield-2/623212-my-thoughts-review.html

So far as I can tell its the only topic covering all things BF2 and not just one thing in isolation. I think that would shift things in the right direction while not being too dramatic of a change.

I'd hope people agree with me.

I've just been promoted to Lance Corporal, and it asked me to unlock a new weapon. I said i'de choose later as i had no idea what would be a good first upgrade, and now i'm ready to choose, I can't seem to unlock anything? Help! :)

I've been playing with the 1.41 patch on Windows7, the BETA is too unstable and has too few servers.

I am surprised by the amount of servers that have mods that keep a track of what you're doing and what you can/cannot do in the game. It's a bit ridiculous, I like a good old vanilla server where the game mechanics work for themselves.

I also acquired BF2142, but with the latest patch, PB always kicks me for Unknown Windows API error 131152 and i am still waiting for EvenBalance to fix it.

By 'mods' I guess you mean AutoAdmins .... only advice is read server rules upon joining and watch for any warnings that way you avoid the old heave ho ie. kick

Sometimes I just want to break those rules on purpose because they're too limiting.

I was used to being a combat commander when I played back in the day, now a lot of these servers require the commander to sit around doing squat

Unlocked the SA80 and seem to be getting on well with it :) Though sometimes i find myself playing almost entire games just rezzing people! Had some absolutely brilliant games so far though. Found some servers that like my PC and can stay in without getting connection errors. It's incredible how much better you do with good teamwork too. Lonewolfing on this game is pretty rubbish, even as a sniper.

Full blackhawk + land in enemy base + kick some ass + capture = win!
