A Closer Look At Mantle and EQAA In Civilization

Banging on about Mantle is like beating a dead horse now.

It's STILL in beta form and less than 5 games currently use it.

It will be all forgotten once Dx12 comes out.

BF4, Thief, PvZ GW, SEv3, Civ=5(+BF HL=6 playable to date).

DA I in 16 days, soon to be 6 available titles v 0 available DX12 titles.

DX12 is going to be brilliant, thanks AMD for the DX12 preview.:D

And I bet you was the guy who used to say it's only in one game bf4. Now it's in 5 games, you better keep counting because more is coming. :p

Then DX12 gets released on Xbox One and PC..... Thus making every Xbone One port a DX12 title on PC.

Adoption rate is too slow for Mantle, it will not take DX12 long to surpass it.

Let's be honest, the only game people talk about mainly is BF4, the rest are cack, well imo they are :p

Looking forward to how DX12 stands up against Mantle and where Mantle goes from there.

If Mantle can hang around once DX12 is released then it's doing something right, if not then at least it pushed MS a little to show what is possible and made performance better for us all in the long run.

I can still see Mantle offering better performance than DX12 for those with lesser CPUs, whether it's enough to continue putting effort in over DX is another matter though. Their time and money may be better focused elsewhere.

One of Mantles goals was to push the low level API agenda, if DX12 is a success then Mantle has done its job.

DX12 has a lot to live upto with a lot of gamers and developers, its not about competition, its about offering something different, something better, and its about looming over the rest to keep them pushing forward.

Not far off the truth, buggy crap annoys me and yet i can't stop playing it.

Wasn't there reports that DX12 was actually in the works before Mantle was even announced?

No doubt it was, whether it would have taken the same approach without Mantle is the question though.

Exactly, so I would wish that Mantle 'fans' would stop saying Mantle caused DX12 to become low level.

There's a 50/50 chance that it did or didn't but yet people rage like it's definitely the reason.

I for one would be super happy if DX12 games start to offer the benefits that Mantle brings.

If you watch RH video on mantle and DX12.. I agree with everything he says there tbh

D3D12 means nothing to Xbox. Not to mention D3D12 isn't even targeted at the majority of games. And remind me again how many games used DX10 even 3 years after release?

So Microsoft said when on the defensive weeks after Mantle was released.

Before that Microsoft were on record as saying that the dubbed DX12 that was in development of the XB1 "was not going to be released for PC"

A change of heart a couple of weeks after Mantle got the limelight?

And then there are the other low level API's, Mac's Metal, OpenGL-Next
