Ah, so if I ordered a few Barrow 90°s they'd all be started in the same place? Bugger. Guess I'll just order the one then and hope!

pretty much or near enough. Depends on the tooling machines but im guessing with 90s they are slotted in a rig and threaded so most would be in the same orientation.... least with alphacool this is the case!
you could say get two barrows to try it out but 1 EK, 1 alphacool etc as back ups

That makes sense, will order a couple of Barrows to test and if they're both wrong & point the same direction will try a different make instead. Cheers mate :)

Non rotary 90°s ordered along with some more PETG and a couple of other small bits... An MSI 1080 Gaming X, EK block and backplate :D

Apart from the EL panel for the floor I think that's pretty much everything now, so hopefully if I get a bit of spare time next week I'll be able to smash on with it. Exciting times! :D

I have 2 Chrome and 1 black Barrow non-rotary 90 degrees and they all end up in different directions. Amazingly for each variation I tried for loop order and component placement, at least 1 fitting ended working, so it's worth a punt I think.

That's good to hear, ordered 3 so hopefully 1 will be close enough to work. If not I'll just order a few more until I get a good one, a 90° is always going to be useful in a future build so not like they'll be going to waste :)

Just had a proper look and it seems the extenders are pretty much all that hold the rad in place inside the casing. They do indeed come out mate, didn't think they did but the one I tried before was just VERY tight. It will look better left in so long as the non rotary 90° fits, but if not that will definitely be my last chance to get the loop working in the route I currently have it :)

Wasn't expecting any deliveries until early next week, but good news: The beast has arrived!

A box inside a box, with a box on top. All getting a bit Inception!

Almost going to feel guilty ripping this bad boy apart. Almost. :D

IMG_20170128_095433.jpg

Even the stock backplate looks pretty damn good...

...But this will *hopefully* look better :D

The block and backplate should be here Monday so I'll finish the top loop first, then chuck the crap cooler back onto the CPU and install this beast for testing before stripping it. Once that's done it's time for more progress :D

Well the non rotary Barrow fittings came and guess what? All 3 end up pointing in different directions but none in the right direction

Anyone had any experience with using either 2 rubber washers or thicker / thinner ones to change the direction? Don't really want to buy a dozen of em before finding a 'good' one but also don't want leaks...!

Barrow do a Matte Black G1/4” Fitting Spacer - 1.5mm. However, Murphy's law dictates that this would either make it stick out too far, be exactly 360° to effectively make no difference or just end up point in a different set of wrong directions :D
Thicker o-ring might also make the difference.

That looks like it could be exactly what's needed, cheers mate! Although as you say, the way this build has gone so far I won't be at all surprised if it just ends up pointing them in 3 different wrong directions :D

Think I'm going to have to if the cheapo spacer doesn't fit. Going to try that first though as it should *hopefully* give me 3 more positions for £2.50 :)

So the last couple of bits came today (discounting couple of quid fittings etc...) and fair to say it was excitement, followed by panic, followed by happiness!

Mmmmmmm, shiny!

MOAR SHINY! But wait, what's that?!

1080... TF5... WTF? Have they sent me the wrong block?! A quick look on EKWB website and all is clear: The TF5 is for the 980 Ti and the TF6 is for the 1080.

Luckily even the pictures of the "TF6" on the website are stamped with "TF5" and it is indeed the correct card, just with the wrong code stamped on it. PHEW. :D

The soon to be painted backplate. Hope it comes out OK because that's one fair size ol' chunk of metal!

IMG_20170130_121621.jpg

Glad to say they even found the correct stamp for this one. Top work :D

Obviously won't be fitting the block until after the card has been stress tested, but hopefully get on with painting the backplate at some point in the next few days :)

Did they not have the backplate in white? Would have made your life easier, no?

EK did the same to me with the 980Ti block. Was so thrown off by it saying TitanX that I ordered a 980 block instead...that didn't fit. Even now my backplate says TitanX on the top.

Unfortunately not, only seem to do the MSI ones in black or nickel so looks like an extra day or 2 of painting!

Ouch, hope you managed to send the 980 one back for a refund. Did find it quite odd that the Ti was based on the TitanX and not the 980, should have called it a TitanXJr or something to make it clearer what it actually was :D

Yes but it's damned expensive to post heavy stuff to Ljubljana (where EK are in Slovenia). Did contemplate trying to ebay it instead....but after thinking about it for a while, I found I just couldn't be ar bothered :D

Only had a couple minutes spare today, but didn't want to waste it sooooo...

First I ripped the face off an Aquaero.

IMG_20170130_162347.jpg

Then heatsinked up a pair of em.

IMG_20170130_163555.jpg

Before mounting the one to control the top loop.

IMG_20170130_172135.jpg

Which looked cool with the roof panel off

IMG_20170130_172241.jpg

And also left just about enough room for cable management :D

Not sure if this'll come under "Cool!", "Don't care" or "Why the $%#! didn't you tell me this before?!" but assuming that Aquaero 6 LT's are like 5 LT's, you can - if you have room to mount it - mount one with the screen and have the other one as a slave connected by Aquabus. Just did a quick Google and it looks like although it's possible, you lose features on one. Discussion here if it's of interest.
