A8R32-MVP what is it

sorry for the false hope guys but it seems to work here but as we all have different softwae loaded , cpu,gfx,m/b and mem all have tolerances the people that can run the games with no problems are lucky , have there pc part in the correct tolerance to just work with the timing issues , others at the other end have no luck at all , others may include me have one thats in the middle just about there , nearly but not quite

good words there Raja OcUk will alow a good contructive thread to go on ( we have not slagged of the shop ect )

we will have to wait now now that the gag has been put on i doubt we will hear much more from DH

hang in there guys my short time with the mobo leads me to think it will be a good un when Asus sort out the bios , hopefully not to long a wait

I am sorry to see it didnt work for you raja, I was hoping (for your guys sake) that it would work for everyone.

I wonder why I can play and you guys cant..

Here are my specs

Mobo A8r32
Ram Corsair XMS 3200 ddr 400
Cpu AMD 64 +4800 (duel core)
Hdd Maxtor sata 100gb
V/c 1 X1900 crossfire
V/c 2 X1900xtx
S/c X-FI Platnium

I disabled everything on the board except for one lan connection (as I do not use the rest)

I use the uli driver from the motherboard cd.
I used ATI CCC, 6.2
I have xp home (sp1 updated to sp2)
I used the latest dx9 file from microsoft

I do have the original Bios..

My game plays fine at 1280x1024.. Refreash rate of 75.. AA at x6 and Ai at x16... I have HDR set to full bloom All my hl2 settings are maxed.. Same with Day of defeat..

So, I wonder whats different..

Chris, I wasnt trying to anger you, not my intentions..if you felt or I made you feel that way.. I am sorry.

I just dont see how my system runs the game ok now after following the directions given to me EXACTLY. And others wouldnt.. But As I indicated, I am perfectly fine with nobody following what worked for me, Maybe for once in my life I am the lucky one..

I do believe there is a bios Issue, to believe otherwise would be foolish, what I was trying to point out was that DH`S post said pcmark05 and sisosft had issues, then at the bottom said "some users were reporting stuttering" That didnt read to me like they found stuttering for themselves, that read to me like you guys found it and they found a hdd timing error.

I felt like there could be some other issue also.. so I kept digging

I shared it out of kindness to you good folks whom have worked very hard at the issue in HOPES it would also help you. I stand beside the fix I recommended and hope it does some good for the community on the whole.

I certianly hope the bios is the cause as I am afraid to uninstall my v/c drivers to get the latest ATI drivers.. I do not wish to spend my enitre relationship with this motherboard afraid to do anything to it for fear the stutters will come back.

Perhaps in the future I should go further in depth in my explinations and I might not offend others so easly..

Regards

I used the latest Creative driver (from thier auto update)

Hi, thx for that lordedmond, I'm about to order some now...

At least, perhaps, because of the gagging order, it might mean that we have some serious stuff happening, and that might be good, or it might be bad, if you get my drift. I wondered why things had gone quiet, I also wonder if the same goes for planetAMD64 as well.....

raja, were do I get 0307 from?

I hope you've not taken to heart my replies, actually I really wanted your solution to work, but in the end I guess I knew that there's much more to it then just that. But I'm pleased it all works for you, no hard feelings, ok?

I feel now all I can do it watch and wait....

Hi leethaxor4u,

It may be an issue with raid who knows, I did try what you said, but I'm unable to completley uninstall the raid drivers, we'll have to wait and see I suppose.

BTW, did you completley reformat and then install xp, I have always used the fix xp to replace the motherboard, and this seems to be succesful for most.

Thanks
Raja

Well that caps any driver order fix for me and coolasmoo, nothing but bios for us 2. The driver order may work for some, but in fairness, drivers should not be that finnicky to install, it shows in itself that something deeper is amiss...........

Yes it was a clean install, The tech walked me through it over the phone (from the time xp was done installing)..

Cool did you disable the raid in the bios? Just curious.. I disabled everything except for one lan socket..

Well I bought this board anyway, Checked with the supplier, If I dont like the board they will refund in 7 days. If its not fit for purpose they will refund in 28 days so I thought might as well try it and see if its any good and hope for a fix in the next few days lol

Maybe good news!!!

Hi,

Okay guys recieved a bios file this morning and preliminary tests are that it's fixed, I am awaiting permission from the sender to post it. I can't do anything until then as it may screw the site who sent it, it's an updated version, and I played bf2 this morning without a hitch, I will now try a reload without reset.........

Sorry, that I have not jumped the gun and posted straight, I figured I owed the person for their help and would hate to ruin their relationship with ati and asus...

Raja

Hi Okay,

the reload works too, I have limited time this morning so could not play for too long, worst case scenario is that it's better than before, will test by playing for an hour tonight, though I have a hunch it's completley fixed.

Don't waste time with reinstalls, globally it's definatley a timing issue.

I am off to work now and won't be back until 5pm, so will speak to you later, coolasmoo and lordedmond keep in touch with me via private email.

Thanks
Raja

Thanks Raja - I presume this is 0033 bios.....People seem to be achieving stability with this one from what I can gather - I hope Asus give it to more people to test it as a beta to confirm on a wider variety of platforms (component platforms).

Cheers,
Crispin.

Hi, I also have recieved a bios, but this time from Asus support to test, 0311 is the version number, raja, is this the same as yours?
It does seem that Asus are taking this seriously as I'm getting back replies pretty well promptly....

Hi, sorry to dissapoint but quake4 is just as bad with excessive disc thrashing causing stutter....
ChrisC

Hi, ok now I'm wondering if it's a quake4 thing as I put on HL2, wacked the settings up and I only barely get a stutter. Maybe quake4 in it's ultra settings requies more memory?
