A8R32-MVP what is it

good news update from DH

****Update 09/03/06****

Asus will today be releasing bios version 0311 for end users, we have tested this version and can confirm it fully resolves the performance issues we reported. We will monitor end user results and update as required.

well given it plenty of testing up to now things seem ok, futher reading on DH talks about some of the review sites using time demos ( pre recorded at that ) if thats true we can have no faith in the reviews

the only difference between this and the a8r-mvp is that the gfx runns hotter only by 3 deg c ?

rage3d have a link to an artical that seems to claim that x1800 will run on a a8r32-mvp without a master card

cannot post it because of the competitor links on the site ( not rage3d but the linked one )

boy are asus being slow at posting this rev

lordedmond, can you tell what settings you used for quake 4 although I'm begining to think that it the amount of ram that you first said about that's making the difference when quake is run at the highest quality...

all at max no problems , but i do think that 2gig helps a lot at max

From what I have seen of this board, if you run it with 2 1900 graphics boards there would be no room to put a Sondblaster X Fi card?

Hi Stuart,

please reply to the email I just sent you, should you wish to do so ofcourse.

coolasmoo I'm awaiting an email from you............

Thanks

Ok,

It was Anandtech that provided me with the bios (thanks to them for the help, especially Gary Key), they have now provided me with permission to post it. It is however a beta bios, and is still subject to update, so please be patient with any issues you still have on your system.

I can't attach it here but can rpovide it to someone who can link it so everyone can get it, otherwise register at anadtech and it should be available there too.

Thanks
Raja

email sent thanks raja

reading anand's comments it looks like the 311 is the release version

all seems well here but more testing needs to be done to see if the fix has uncovered some more worms

the thing that i have noticed is that the mem skew is now shown mine is 720ps whatever that means

i wonder if thats the thing that was fixed

Its fixed BF2 for me guys,

But i still have the anoying high pitch sound,

I guessed the bios wouldnt get rid of it but im just so glad for eveybody involved that the Stutter issue is gone.

I would imagine that getting another board would give the same issue, or do you guys think its worth trying another A8R32

if the hum bother you yes
yours must be quiet with the reserater on , and now you have more confidence in the m/b a replacement would be more aceptable to you

hdtach is much better to
BTW mine does not have the high pitch sound , it will be a out of spec Cap in the switch mode power section better Rma now that later when you have got the system back together

Thanks,

Ive requested the RMA and may pop into OcUK tomorrow and pick up another board. Stock pending

(original board purchased elsewhere)
