A8R32-MVP what is it

Hi,

I did try to set te skew to normal, but my system would not load any games, so it's better left where it is.

Just been playing BF2 and it works great so far

I have the squeal too, I can live with it I suppose,

Let's see what happens OK....

It would be nice if OCUK had it's own BF2 server...........

it's progress anyway.........

Hi again lordedmond, well as I can play HF2 more less at full chat with no issues, and my system is not far off what yours is, I can only guess that my memory is causing the issue. As I've got Kingston Value maybe it's not only not enough for Quake, but also the memory timings might not be with this motherboard.

Thanks,

Ive requested the RMA and may pop into OcUK tomorrow and pick up another board. Stock pending

(original board purchased elsewhere)

I would be quick now its sorted I bet many readers have been sitting on the fence waiting :D

reading around the web many of the reviewer are doing a bit of face saving by saying we only tested with single core cpu, not with duel core ?

hopefully this will make the reviewing more searching in the future

as the week pans out we can see how the board runs with overclocking, remember there was also the issue of the bios resets after a power down, which meant editing bios to re enter the overclock.....

the stutter was the major issue and that seems ok now......

funny things are afoot me thinks

I will call and see if I can get more information. and will post here. this seems to be the place to keep everyone informed about it.

From what I have seen of this board, if you run it with 2 1900 graphics boards there would be no room to put a Sondblaster X Fi card?

Phil

Hi Phil
I can confirm that you can indeed install an X-Fi and Crossfire setup. I have done (see sig) and even installed a wireless pci card too. It's a tight fit but it's ok :)

Weird thing is though, I've had none of the problems the other posters on this thread have had. No stuttering whatsoever and consistent Hdd performance. I've had a different problem though: if i leave the machine switched off over night, when I power up the following day there is no output to the monitor after windows goes past it's loading screen. I can log on, I just can't see anything! The only way I have found to get round this is to hit F8 immediately after the bios posts (I can see that bit, it just loses the display after windows loads) and select "enable vga" from the windows boot options menu (the bit that lists safe mode etc).

I don't know why my setup should be different to anyone elses. Haven't read the thread all the way through properly so can't say for sure. The only thing I noticed different about mine is I'm not running a RAID set up and I am using the silicon image SATA ports

Hopefully the new bios will fix me up too. :)

i am quite bemused how some set ups work ( yours is a duel core ) and some do not most have a similer software setup xp 32 bit or xp64 bit with the same gfx drivers , driver for the m/b smoe work ok , those people cannot understand what all the fuss is about

its most odd raja has just about turned his system inside out so as coolasmoo to try and find a base level to the problem , the bios does sort it tho now the mem skew is applied correctly

this is more like the real launch now that we have the beta out of the way

do you think it's high time a new thread was started?????

a8r32-mvp owners thread???

Running the newer bios... cant run in 1T anymore. Just running more benchmarks etc atm...

that's strange as 1t works fine for me.

I suppose some issues will be up in the air for now.

I think it's best you make them known to either anandtech or DH and even Asus, that way they can work them out and perhaps get them ready for the official bios, just a thought..........

hehe nice one lordedmond, seeing as mine is single core, I wonder what single core they were testing.
Blimey, 32mb of ram for £160, I remeber when 8 meg was £100 lol. Anyway, the ram you recommended arrives tomorrow so hopefully I'll have an update for you soon after. Minds you it's the start of the F1 season, I might be digging out my Geff Crammond GP4 again, lol pay for an upgrade that's cost me around £700 and I play GP4 on it!!!!

Raja, sorry if you've already posted this info, but what HTT and Memory speed are you running + voltage increases?

Cheers

ok just tried 1.45vcore

htt is still at 1ghz

220 fsb

2.5-3-3-6

I know I can go higher and stable for benchmarks, I think the highest I got with air is 2760mhz.

I have not bothered with oc'ing much as my attention has been on the stuttering issues, and I'm kinda breathing in releif from the fatigue. Gary Key from anandtech was up all night, so he's more red eyeballed than me.........
