A8R32-MVP what is it

raja F8 Safe mode dont work.

Tried the ALT + F2 method. It sems to work and says its successful, reboots then I get CMOS Checksum Bad, Press F1 to Run SETUP, Press F2 to load default values and continue.

Pressing F2 I get the flashing cursor. Dont work with 0311 or 0201. Wont even boot from the Windows CD.

System was fine till I tried to update BIOS. Any more ideas?

HI

go in to bios with f1, set all of the options manually (according to your system config) then save and reboot, this has worked for me when I get the bad cmos maessage, after upgrading bios.

Thanks
Raja

I realised you probably knew what you were talking about ;) so decided to give it a go.
I updated the bios by using ALT+F2 at post and having the new bios (renamed to A8R32MVP.rom) on a usb stick. When it couldn't find the floppy it looked first for a cd and then a usb stick. Found it and installed happily :) Thanks for the advice!
glad it worked for you :D

Now, most of the bugs are ironed out of the board

The question is, how is crossfire running these days.

I bought this board to go the crossfire route but im still hearing horror stories.

Is anybody running crossfire on this board got any input :)

morning Coolasmoo

its survived the night then :D

I do not have xfire as you know i to am waiting , its would seem that xfire has some problems with game at the moment

is not Raja Xfire ?

hows the reserrator cooling the x1900 as it looks like i am going to have to water cool this gfx

Hi, "Now, most of the bugs are ironed out of the board "....
Not sure, some still there. This morning I went to boot my PC, went to a blank screen, wouldn't load the bios, graphics card fan going full pelt. Switched it off and back on again, lost the drives again....
Went into the bios and back out and the drives are there. Now these drives worked perfectly on a A8V, but this board has a habit of failing to detect them within the bios on occassions so if the is an issue then it either still with the board, or the bios or with the Uli chip....

Really good ,

Keeps it at 33 idle and rarely goes above 70

I am going to hook it up 2 a mastercard aswell if i ever get one, which is why im running the Zalman 9500 on the CPU, as it would be a bit to much for 2 X1900 and an overclocked fX55

The system is silent though using qfan in the bios to keep the Zalman speeds low until needed ,which is why i picked up on the noise from my first board.

So far the Seagate 500 sata 2 drive is giving me good speeds on the ULi controller, and i have to say that the Marvell PCI-E NIC is better than what im used to on the Nforce Chipset.

So far all my problems are gone. But..... :p

Finally managed to build last night/this morning....

Bios to 0311
XP Pro SP2 32Bit with all high priority windows updates
Chipset drivers
Dual Core Fix
DX9c Dec Update
Catalyst 6.3

FX-60
Asus X1900XTX
G.Skill 2GB DDR ZX PC3200

All stock bar the Zalman Aero Flower cpu cooler.

Have only one issue to report and thats the memory hum when playing cs:source/HL2 - it's odd that the more FPS it has to render - the higher the hum - e.g. load de_dust2 run net_graph 3 in console, then go to bombsite B - look around the bombsite and listen to the hum - then quickly crouch and look at the floor - FPS should shoot up and the hum will get louder. No stuttering or anything else to report at the moment though. About to run 1T and up the multiplier to 15 to take the CPU to 3GHz - will report back after that.

Hi,

I'm running crossfire, and have no problems to report as of yet. Do you have any links to problems with this board??

Motherboard wise I would not say everything is perfect, overclocking the cpu can still be finnicky, but this seems to be the cse with all motherboards released recently........

Raja

Hi raja

Just general impressions on the forums really regarding compatability with certain games (not specific to this motherboard) here and over at rage3d.

I didnt want to fork out for the mastercard if it really wasnt worth it at this time.

Otherwise im happy to go for it now.

Am running 1T now with 14X multiplier.

BIOS reports CPUs running at 2.8GHz - as does Windows.

However CPUID in windows reports everything as stock - am I doing something wrong? Is there another detection tool I can use - or do I need to change something? Thanks,

Crispin.

I use CPUZ, not sure if its the same thing but reports my overclock fine.

I didnt up the multi with my fx55

Preffered to use the AI *** in the bios, and it works really well.

Keeps everythin at stock and then ramps the speeds up when gaming ect

/edit - stupid filter AI N-O-S

good oc :D

cpuid will not work because it does not reconise the chip set :(

Just want to check something out ,

Which port at the back are you plugged into for the NIC,
Im into the 2nd one nearest the power supply which i think is the one to use.

Marvell Yukon 88E8053 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller

i am on the other the pci one

handles my 10 meg internet ok

why are you having trouble

No ,

Its just in the manual (page 2-16 :D )

One is PCI Express Lan

The other is PCI Lan

I would presume that the PCI Express is better which is what i think im plugged into

i think it could be different if we were using a 1gbit lan not as in my case 100mbps

i can only get up to about 10% useage on the net ,but tranfering to a NAS I get 55mbps

I have just hooked up the ESATA port on the back , had to get a esata to sata cable by gum they are dear got the enclosure from else where poped a spare 300 gig sata hd in works great , i use it for backups now instead on the NAS

The esata port is differnt to normal sata so you need the cable
