A8R32-MVP what is it

Hi, I wish I could 'market the full spectrum' perhaps I'd get some of my money back :-)
Right now I'm on another install, fingers crossed, I've used the ULi driver that came with the CD and so far so good. I tried using the more recent HD sound card driver from realtek but that threw all of it's toys out of the pram. Refused to recognise the hardware then after I'd uninstalled them it got into a detect hardware cycle, jeez. Again I used the ones on the CD and it was fine...
Now I'm about to mount the secondary two JBOD's, fingers crossed...

Well I guess it was worth the try, as soon as I'd mounted and formatted the drives I got the 'The device, \Device\Scsi\m52881, did not respond within the timeout period' again. I'd suspect the drives, but windows disc and ULi management all state they're healthy and chkdsk gooes through with no errors...

I hope it works for you ;)

We know there are still outstanding issues, I can feel your frustration, in a way it may be better not to spend any more time doing reinstalls and just wait for the new bios, if you still wish to keep the board that is. In the past both Coolasmoo and myself came to points where we'd had enough of the reinstallation saga, and had to wait for the new bios...................

never tried jbod, however the raid 0 function for my 2 drives has always worked fine for me whatever bios i used.

Hey man, you seem to be a lot better than me at this kinda thing. Ya think you could help me set up the bios and the driver config when I do get it?

In your case, there should not be much that needs doing. Most of the fucnctions in bios can be left to auto when not overclocking. Anything else and post here and I'm sure we can help.

One thing I'm noticing is that no one has the X1900 Crossfire Edition. I see everyone with 2 x1900xtx or x1900xt is that possible? Did I wast money on getting the X1900Crossfire Edition card or is it simply a common knoldege thing if your saying you have a x1900xtx crossfired that you have the Crossfire edition card....

You need the crossfire edition to make it work

nah they're just typing their setups in 'short hand', at present you must have the crossfire edition mastercard to make crossfire work on the 1900 series. That should change in the next 6 months or so. Then you can have 2X1900xtx's in crossfire if you wish, the black dongle connecting the 2 cards won't be required anymore either. The function already exsists in the bios for this board, ATI just have to turn it on, when the time suits their wallets............

Know what, that's what I thought, good thing I bought it with the xtx, know what though, the cf edition card isn't that far off the xtx as far as specks, so, I will not be doing that upgrade. I wonder when they'll come out with the 512 bit cards though...

You are not allowed to post 'competitor' names on these forums, read the rules bro'. Edit the name out and it'll be ok. Not being nasty it's just the forum rules........ Even if they are an American supplier.............

Hmm... That's odd. I've read that the SATA II drivers on the mvp might be hosed. Think I might go IDE HD to see if that's where the problem is....

I tried that and it didnt work because the Uli drivers were still on the system

I got it to work with Microsoft drivers in IDE Mode or the 21/11/2005 version 1.0.5.2 in Sata mode

It looks like that Sapphire 580 board with the Ati SB450 looks tempting after all :(

Blimey guys, I think I'm embarrassed, I just had a poke around the inside of my case, made sure all the sata cables were on good and tight, and, guess what, no scsi timeout!!!!
I'm goona put my head doen the bog and give it a good flushing :-)

raja, if that's true about the X1900's then it's just what I'm waiting for....

let me get this right, You can't use the newer uli drivers, but it's fine with the older ones?

I think that sb450 has some issues too.
