A8R32-MVP what is it

I would not dive straight in this time, better to wait a month...............
do you have a little inside knowledge on that one Raja or is it on present experiences , only as i said before i would have stuck with the asus for a little while had i known that the bios would fix the graphics issue . only having had the dfi ultra d before i like the bios options dfi give

Andy,

remember the issues with the dfi rd480 board? Dead cpu's, at least the Asus board with all it's attendant problems did not kill off any cpu's. I'm interested in the DFI board too, but I think it would be prudent to at least wait and see what user experiences surface. There will be plenty of people diving straight in on launch day to get a good idea quite quickly....................

Though the DFI interests me for more stable overclocks, I'll see what the new Asus bios can do first..............

If you are happy to consider changing your mobo again in a few months then its well worth risking this mobo.

I am 99% happy with it as it is. But brought it in the knowledge that i was prepared to upgrade again if needed later. Now i have it, my plans have changed and i'm not even looking for a new upgrade. That may be different if i were after the 300Mhz HTT, but as 2GB ram cant do that anyway, i'm happy at 260

Hi Guys,
Well I started building a system on this board last night.
So far I have got it to the stage of the basics done ie no internet/network, printer and fully working sound yet. I managed to play BF2 using headphones for sound. It suffered from pauses which I think is the old version 210? Bios.
Will update when internet is working. The thing that worried me the most so far was fitting the big Typhoon cooler as it uses only 2 screws and a H plate to hold it in place, you need to take your time and tighten slowly and evenly.
Will report more when I have done more testing.
Regards
Phil

off topic,

anyone who likes driving games, check out the evolution gt demo, of all the driving games I've tried so far, this one has the best 'feel', the graphics are really smooth, something that I just could not manage with n4smw (crude ea coding as usual).

Not going near that, it has the uli chipset sb...

Prolly be the same as the Asus...

:(

dunno if it's worth condemnation just yet, the board itself has quite a few merits at first approximation....

let's see what the users here have to say once OCUK get them, at least 3 of the trust worthy guys here will probably get them on launch, than we'll know if there are any of the issues we have already seen with the Asus.....

I was having some bad issues with crossfire, it turns out i can only run one version of the Uli drivers, Dated 21/11/2005 version 1.0.5.2

Anything higher and crossfire blackscreens on any game and reboots the PC

I have noticed that the Uli driver that does work fine is not WHQL so im baffled as to why a certified updated driver is causing this

Under the Advanced Options section of the bios, go to PCI Configuration, ensure P2P Writes is Enabled. CrossFire will typically time out or BSOD if this is disabled.

On a secondary note- I have tried all four ULi M1575 driver releases with the Cat 6.3 (CCP version, .Net2) release without an issue today. Email me your system specifics and I will try to recreate your issue.

Hi Guys,
I cant get asus update to work, its my only way of installing new bios as I dont have a floppy.
Do I just uninstall creative drivers or is it back to complete windows reinstall?

Thanks for the suggestion, Gary, i do have that enabled as bios defaults to that.

Specs if it helps

Sig + Creative XFI FPS, Seasonic S12 , Razer Copperhead, Eclipse Keyboard

Xbox360 Controller, Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 NCQ 500GB

;)

Edit. i see you said you use .net2

Im using .net 1.1+SP1 and .Net 2 with the CCC defaulting to .Net1.1

If i get time i may try just .Net 2 on its own and report back

No problem with Asus update, I flashed with that utility. I chose a different option, probably update from file. Seemed to have problems connecting to the servers.

Well, the layout kicks the butt.
Don't like the fan. When ever I have a fan on the motherboard, it gets noisy. :(
What is the extra power connector all about? Shouldn't it be 4 pins? Will that add some extra power/stability that the A8R32 is missing?

Hey Tanquen, you posted on either Sapphier forums or Driver Heaven right, I remember this post from somewhere.... Man, I think it's the batch you got, cause I remember reading in other threads about the same problem, but it's very scarse. Not that many did that...Hmmmm

Sorry, for being a poster-hore. I’m just trying to see if anyone has seen this issue.

I have a creative XiFi, however when I start the asus update i get the NT error described by Ryan earlier in this thread. Maybe its not the creative drivers but it does not work all the same :(
Phil

RE NT error

i had same nt problem when i first tried to install auto update. you have to change something in the registry. im not at my pc right now. its a documented asus / creative problem. you have to google it or ill post the fix once i get home. it has to do with adding a 'u' to one of the values.

will post later
