Thanks for the suggestion, Gary, i do have that enabled as bios defaults to that.

Specs if it helps

Sig + Creative XFI FPS, Seasonic S12 , Razer Copperhead, Eclipse Keyboard

Xbox360 Controller, Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 NCQ 500GB

;)

Edit. i see you said you use .net2

Im using .net 1.1+SP1 and .Net 2 with the CCC defaulting to .Net1.1

If i get time i may try just .Net 2 on its own and report back

Coolasmoo, have you found the Copperhead to enhance your FPS performance????

Raja

edit: the Evoulution Gt demo, is a great workout for Crossfire, stunning smooth visuals, at a constant 75fps, regardless of AA and AF settings....

Hmmm, after lots of issues, I have just switched from X64 to XP32, and now my PC is stable, even with USB2.0....

Could I be cynical to suggest that the issues may have been down to X64 drivers?

It feels better to hold than the logitechs i owned, very smooth ,Its down to user settings really how well it performs in FPS.

Im going to grab that Evolution Demo as im quite into the Racing thing just recently.

i had same nt problem when i first tried to install auto update. you have to change something in the registry. im not at my pc right now. its a documented asus / creative problem. you have to google it or ill post the fix once i get home. it has to do with adding a 'u' to one of the values.

will post later
Hi Faxel,
Thanks very much for the help.
That has solved it.
A couple of questions for you guys
Windows keeps trying to install a new PCI device as I only have 2 and both are working correctly (Graphics card and XiFi) not sure why.
Does the hard drive light on your system flash quite often even with the system at idle? dont remember this occurring in other PC's I have built.
It may be my imagination but I feel the DVD rom is slow and or when working with the HDD guess the biggest problem is I dont trust the motherboard :p

Regards
Phil

Hi all, just had a e-mail from OcUK about my rma'd memory modules to say that they've been shipped at no cost. I guess this means that they were either faulty or being replaced as if they had been ok then they would have charged me a tenner.
Hopefully I'll get them either mon or tues, I'll keep you posted...

First review report of the Sapphire board suggest it does not clock as well as the A8R32. From what I've seen the DFI looks good, though I have not seen 300htt 1:1 yet.

I managed 300htt 133mhz @ 1T, though I did not test it for stabilty.
The next 2 weeks will be decisive for the A8R32, if a new bios comes out, we'll see just how well it stands up to the DFI, which is the only real contender IMHO.

I have discovered some new issues, my mouse will freeze regularly and i get the sound as though a new USB device has been connected/disconnected and I have noticed my 1900XTX running at only 500 core and 590 memory speeds. I think they should be 650 and 775 respectively. Difficult to say if its the boards or the components.
Phil

Hi Raja,
I think that was the 2D speeds shown, i was told not to worry as for 3D it would ramp up automatically.
The other problem seems as though the USB connection is lost and found again for very short periods and it appears as though a new device or the same device has been reconnected. I get a temporary freeze of about 2-3 seconds. Was this something you ever experienced with your board?
Phil

Hi,

never had the usb problem, what device is it?

I don't suppose you've changed the usb settings in bios? (they should be left as they are at default).

Yeah, I guessed you'd confused the 2d-3d speeds, we've all been there............

Raja

No I havent changed any of the USB devices. I think its the mouse.
Although I still have windows reporting a unknown PCI device. Only have graphics and XiFI card and both are working fine. Like I said I really feel this board was rushed out by Asus, i have used many of theirs before with no where near the problems I have with this.
Phil

Yes, they made a lot of mistakes with this board. The other manufacturers have been very cautious in comparison. If you take a look at DFI, the release has been confirmed within the next 2 weeks, but there are no official reviews yet, with the Asus, the reviews were coming in thick and fast 2 weeks prior to launch.

DFI, have been looking in at the Asus issues, if you look at the product advertisment, they have 'non iron core inductors' to prevent noise made by modern high speed ram/motherboards. Let's just see what the users have to say this time, OCUK will surly stock that board, it won't be long before we find out how well it works.

fingers crossed for the new Asus bios.

I'm gonna hold off the next 2 weeks. I want to see what the DFI does. I just bought the prossesor AMD FX60 the SATA II WD 7200 RPM , and have the 2 video cards already, now all I have to do is get the PSU But b4 I getis I want to see if is good for the DFI . I know it's good for the A8r32. But let's see if it's right for the DFI if I get that board... But this would be the PSU FSP Group (Fortron Source) FX700-GLN ATX12V/ EPS12V 700W All-In-One Power Supply - Retail . Almost there, when do you think the DFI will be avail in the US?

I`ve had this board for a couple of weeks now and have some questions that I hope you guys can help me with.

1: I have one of my X1900 video cards sharing an IRQ with the Uli Sata/Raid controller and according to ATI support this should be avoided. Is there anyway to change this?

2 At the moment I have GTR, GT legends and F1 Challenge installed. Both GTR and GT Legends run fine but F1 Challenge is giving me real problems. The performance is poor compared to my last system ( Opteron 150 and X800xt pe ). It also suffers from horizontal scrolling in the menu`s and in game.

Apart from these issues I`am happy with this board after updating to the 311 bios.

GeCube X1900 XT
GeCube X1900 XTX
2 gig GSkill pc 3200
Neo He 550w psu

Well, I'll start off with a rant...

I've recently discovered that the onboard NIC (both the PCIe and the PCI ones are affected) on my A8R32-MVP is corrupting data when copying files over my LAN. I've posted all the sordid details over on the Driverheaven forum A8R32-MVP thread. If anyone here can try to reproduce the problem it would help greatly!

So, I discovered that this problem was not caused by the A8R32-MVP after all, but by some bad interaction between it and a bad software configuration on my "server" HTPC box.

I posted more of the sordid details over on driverheaven, but I thought I should report back here that I was wrong and it was not the ASUS board that caused this problem.

Definately a weird one though!

I must say that with this problem solved, I am now very happy with my ASUS board with the 311 bios. I have not had any of the memory noise problems reported here (which seem to be either you got a bad one or not), and overall it has been running fairly well.

I have seen performance seem to degrade slightly when it's left running for a few days (though that could be a sofware problem with something I'm running), and until I installed the ULi v220 drivers I did have the intermittent short freezes mentioned previously. I read that some people using Crossfire can't install the newer ULi drivers, but since I'm not using Crossfire (just one X1900XT for me), I haven't had any trouble with it.

All in all the BIOS seems to need to "mature" a bit, but that's no surprise with a first board on a new chipset (from a relative novice in the performance chipset market). I'm sure it will over time though. Had I had more time to wait, I might have waited to see what DFI came out with, but their boards have had plenty of BIOS trouble in the past as well. It just goes with the territory really...

Hi ozscot, and welcome to the forum, XP has been sharing IRQ's since it came out, whatever ATI recommend, and they seem out of date with this, sharing should not be an issue....

Maybe so, but both my vga cards (x1900's) were on sole irq's until I installed cat 6.3's...

Now they are sharing and system is very unstable...

Tells a story dont it...

IRQ sharing is a nightmare, thats why I am thinking of selling my fx60 and going back to intel...
