Can you post more detailed settings? I have a FX60 also and would like to get it to 3GHz. I had gotten it to 2.9Ghz I can’t do it now but I don’t know much of anything about overclocking.

Well that rather depends on how much risk you are prepared to take.

to run 3Ghz stable i have had to set the following.

FSB - 215
Multi 14
Vcore 1.4
Vcore Over 200
Vdimm 2.8
Leave all else as is and just hope the CPU holds on with the volts lol

What windows overclocking tool do you use. Clock gen and Sys tool both read bad info for me and cause a lockup if i change anything.

PS: Vapo LS on way to me... that should help although i'm already maxed on vcore :(... hope the next bios improves

Apart from the monitoring software (pc probe, cpu-z, A64 tweaker) - none! Everything I've done so far has been from within the Asus bios.

The bios' "Cpu Parameter Recall" safety feature has saved me on numerous occasions already. It doesn't function exactly as described in the manual though (pages 1-6 and 2-19), in that whenever I've changed a setting to something that wouldn't allow Post, I've been able to power off, power back on and then I get prompted to EITHER reset the bios to defaults OR go back into the bios and manually correct the settings myself.

The CPR thing is not infallible though. I had to remove the battery and clear the cmos using the jumper after I messed up the memory timings. Thats only happened once... so far (nervous_lol). It's a pain when it happens because you have to take out the top X1900 to get to it, so glad it's only been the once!

Looking forward to hearing how your vapo works out. :) I'll probably post some pics in the case section once i've got water installed on mine.

Is ABIT AT8 32X better than the A8R32-MVP?

It is less money and ~~~~~~ don’t hobble the return policy as it does with the Asus.

I also like the idea of having a PCI-e and PCI slot open if I go with Crossfire and no fan as with the upcoming DFI board.

Remove that reference to company and link before a moderator see's it...

Hi, I'd wait until they've had a 'proper' review by users. Have read a review of the Saphire and performance wise it wasn't that good...

OT, I know, all Quake 4 issues were resolved.

Where has that new bios and ATI drivers got to?

them have got lost in never never land

it is a bit strange that the other 3200 express mobo's have not shown up yet?

may be some bugs to sort out , bet they do not want the bad press that Asus have had over thier two ati chipset mb

I take it the new / replacement ram is ok chris

It does seem odd other boards aren't around yet...

Hopefully new bios and drivers this week? (can always hope :))

The Abit is out in the USA and the Sapphire is out in the UK

The DFI is due very soon now

Im keeping an eye on the Abit one myself

Hi lordedmond, yes the new ram is working perfectly, running a 10% overclock with everything bar the command rate, set to 1t, at auto. It is very stable now....

Abit and DFI are showing their versions on websites, according to the Abit forum the release dates are U.S. is 4/3/2006 & Canada is 4/10/2006, dunno about the UK and europe though....

CD/DVD read pause freeze issue

Is everyone using a soundcard vs. the onboard sound? I just put my old Audigy 2 in my new setup just for the heck of it and now my CD/DVD read pause freeze issue seems to have gone. ???

I had even tried disabling the onboard sound along with everything else that I could do without and I still had the issue.

Well, I had board that produced the whiney/screech noise so I decided to RMA it. A week or so later, and I have my new replacement. Had to flash the bios to 311 (done straight away), rebiult with win xp64 from scratch. All running fine.

I have however noticed something odd. I'm often getting what appears to be some sort of interference on screen. Most noticable on large sections of plain white colour - looks almost like a horizontal ripple/stripe effect? Seems to tie in with either high cpu or hdd usage (not sure exactly which yet) - which coincidentaly was about the same times I was getting the noise on the other board...?

I'm using a crossfire setup (HIS X1900XT Crossfire card, HIS X1900XT "slave") using the link cable out the back, and a 21" crt connected via a dvi to vga adapter.

Anybody else experience this? I switched crossfire mode off thinking it was that, but still there. May try using the DVI port on the card rather than the crossfire cable and see if that makes any difference.....

I submitted a ticket with ATI about this and the reply I got was " We have recently recreated and confirmed this issue. It happens primarily with X1800 and X1900 cards in Crossfire setups using certain motherboards.

We are currently working on a fix for this issue and any updates will be posted on our website soon."

Ok, what's up? I've noticed in my 2 main A8R32-MVP web treads that have stopped posting. Did they all of a sudden start working or did everyone just give up?

I think people who have returned there faulty boards and got a replacement are happy now. Those that were lucky enough to get a good board from the off don't feel the need to post here, and those that have had a faulty board or major hastles have either got a refund, or have given up and are waiting to try the alternative boards to resolve their issues.

The bios update fixed the issues for many.

As for me - my replacement for my faulty board is a lot better, bar the issue a couple of message up with screen noise. As this is apparantly a known issue with asus/ati I'm waiting to see what the resolution is...
