About the MM

Isn't that where the respond to comment feature comes in?

Of course, that doesn't stop people waffling...

No that would be totally different.
the suggestion is better for 2 reasons.
1 - If you want feedback to be "added" to your score you must yourself leave feedback
2 - it cuts down on people leaving negative feedback just because the other party did (also removes fear of leaving negative feedback first)

responding to negative feedback is really not related to this issue at all.

I am gathering that the feedback (trust) system here works much like the ebay system does then ? apart from sellers not being able to leave negative feedback on ebay ?

yeh this annoys me, I would love to see the members market but I never will.
I simply don't have the time to be writing back and forth on forums to people I don't know.
Have spent a lot of money with overclockers over the years aswell, guess being a customer is not as important as writing up nonscence or smiley faces to get my count up. but I know there has got to be some system!!!

The example given was for it to be hidden from everyone until both parties had left trust. Not to be hidden from everyone for all time excpt the individuals involved in the transaction.

OK, gotcha.
If neither party is aware of the other's comment until they've both left Trust, then yeah, makes sense.

Must have been the way I read it :o

My understanding is that MM is a perk not a right, it doesn't have to be provided therefore whatever rules the admins/mods of the forum set to allow access are fair ?

do you also complain because you don't meet the minimum requirement to get free delivery from OCUK when ordering as well ?
another service that is provided which really gives no benefit* to OCUK themselves

*there obviously is the benefit of keeping repeat customers through offering them this discount.

You don't have to leave positive feedback. You can post whatever you wish as long as it's reasonable.

Nono, read the post that started this discussion. You're pretty much shoehorned into leaving positive feedback or the other party will leave a red in yours too with some made up nonsense.

You realise OcUK don't make money directly from second hand sales on the MM, right? It's not like the requirement is there to **** off people, just to weed the door handles out before they get a chance to rip someone off. The very fact you have posted here on this topic proves that you DO have time to contribute to the forum, be it on the topic of something you enjoy, something you can help another user with or just to moan about MM requirements.

I do understand completely everything said, its just annoying that's all. You could have ordered nothing from them and everything from mm cos of post counts. guess the way it is is the only way to do it. :(

And if they are making up crap we'll look at that and act as appropriate.

Never seen this at all.
And if it does report it, however why not leave feedback. It takes seconds and makes it easier for other people to gauge. You can also leave responses to feedback for yourside of the story.

I am by no means a huge customer of OcUK but I contribute to the forum and it's community and that's what the MM is there to reward. Like I said, how much or even if you are a customer is irrelevant to the forum community. You can't buy your way to access and it doesn't excuse you from the rules.

I know, maybe in a few years I will get there, :)

As a relatively new member with a low count, I agree that the MM should be reserved for contributors to the forum, with a decent post count. However, why 1000 posts? Previously at 250 and increased to 1000, it seems somewhat arbitrary. What about 500? 750? For me, someone who posts 500 times is just as much a contributor as someone who posts 1000, and, in relation to the MM, is just as "trustworthy" as the 1000 poster.

It's not so much about the total contribution, it's just having a high post count barrier helps discourage scammers, as they are unlikely to make 1000 posts without being spotted spamming.

We're not rating on quality, so someone posting 500 is literally half the contributor someone posting 1000 is.

Of course it is arbitrary. 250 was too. It's a judgement call we have made and users of the MM seem to agree with it.

Yeah because making a post every 2 days takes up so much time.. If you don't even have the time to make 1 post every 2 days then how would you fit browsing the MM into your hectic schedule?
