Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2010, Yas Island Marina Circuit - Race 19/19

I get the impression he will not be with RB next year!
Massa out at Ferrari and Webber in? I think it can be said that Webber is a better driver, at the moment certainly, than Massa. Alonso and Webber are mates and if Ferrari signed Webber they might get some knowledge about this year's and, perhaps, some of next year's RBR?

If Alonso had been able to get pole position towards the end of the season and could rely on Massa to be 2nd/3rd and keep the Red Bull's away from Alonso, we might be talking about a new triple world champ. Ferrari might think that, for whatever reason, Massa just won't be the driver he was before the accident and think that getting a new driver in might a) help push Alonso and b) give Alonso a reliable rear gunner.

I cant him not being there - its still going to be the car to be in. He just has to either accept the change in team dynamic and be the team driver or show from the first race what hes made of and maintain that he cant/wont be ignored.

While hes in that seat he can still win a WDC - I couldnt say that in any other team with the same conviction...

EDIT: Ive never really thought much of Webber - he did well at Jaguar but I didnt understand the plaudits he got from the F1 press - that all changed once he got his first win. Im still not sure though looking at this last race if he has the mindset to get a WDC though...

Epic season ... don't want it to end :(

BBC have been quite simply brilliant since they took over from ITV.

New tyres, KERS and car designs for next year ... I.LOVE.THIS.SPORT.

Does the forum get uploaded to iPlayer? it wouldn't work for me :/

I'm so glad an RBR driver got it in the end over Alonso, sweetness in watching a Renault hold up Alonso, that was awesome to watch :D

I really wanted the title to go to Webber but I'm still happy to see Vettel get it, very moving radio response when he found out. Awesome end to the best season I've seen in F1.

Well done Seb, not my favourite driver on the grid but he was flawless today.

I wish everyone would stop moaning about the tracks being rubbish. Yas Marina is an absolutely awesome facility.
The tracks aren't the problem, the cars are - there are no issues in the support races with overtaking at Valencia, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain etc etc.

how much are the car designs changing next year? or will red bull carry the speed to next season quite easily?

It probably won't be that different, maybe a little larger around the engine area for the KERS and the rear of the car may be slightly smaller because the diffuser won't be so large.

What's the point? He didn't make any places, he lost the WDC. 20 second penalty isn't exactly going to have an effect is it?

The point is rules are rules and you aren't supposed to use run off areas as part of the track.

Alonso got away with a lot today though when he tries to overtake Petrov he completely misses the chicane and just floors it to rejoin right on Petrov's gearbox, on any other track with a gravel trap or grass he would have lost position to Webber who was right behind him.

Ferrari are banking on Massa being faster with the Pirelli than he was with this years Bridgestone.

We'll see how that plans out, But going by what i've read and heard from MW on the BBC Forum, The tires are apparantly "Racy" Not the conservative tires we've seen from Bridgestone to an extent, Understable to a degree i guess. Next year should be fascinating, Who gets on top of the tires the quickest should have an advantage.

So going by that, Massa gets given a second opportunity. He grabs it with both hands and pushes Alonso to the max or he dissapoints as he has done this year.

Roll on next year, It was gripping watching that today!
One thing i seriously want them to sort out though is PLEASE make cars be able to pass each other. It was horrible watching Hamilton stuck behind Kubica and Alonso with Petrov.
KERS and the adjustable rear wing should hopefully help.

Congratulations to Vettel and RBR, The best car won it at the end of the day, Ferrari had the opportunity but blew it. You've got to question the strategists inside the team for making that call. They will get a hammering from the Italian and Spanish press for that.

Roll on next year, Can't wait!

I really hope Pirelli sort the tyres out so that the soft tyre is really very soft, provides a huge advantage but stands no chance of lasting the ridiculous lengths of time it seemed to manage at some races this year.

I take it we are keeping the silly mandatory change thing?

I'd much prefer they just made the tyres unable to last the full race distance (and thus have more grip hopefully) than stipulate a change. Then you may even get people risking a full distance on one set that would actually be a risk in order to avoid a stop vs people thrashing the nuts off some super soft tyres but pitting.

Webber has no chance next year. The team will absolutely favour Vettel now and I can see him being very strong next year. i can also see Alonso and Ferrari being back on form.

Perhaps its a case of Ferrari hoping that with everyone on new tyres Massa will be starting on an equal footing rather than the Pirellis just suiting his style of driving.

I'm not sure Massa will be as fast as he was. I wonder if Ferrari will dare to replace him mid-season if Alonso's in the title hunt but Massa is nowhere to be seen. I think we can expect Webber/Vettel/Button/Hamilton to be more or less in the fight if Red Bull and McLaren deliver fast cars. Ferrari really need to have two performing drivers if they want either title next year.

I have lost a lot of respect for Massa. I was expecting a fighting comeback after his accident last year. But we really haven't seen much of anything from him. He isn't even a very good rear gunner for Alonso.

I was very impressed with Renault this year, here's hoping for more of the same next year. Kubica was very very good, I'd really like to see someone like Kobayashi drive for them
