Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2011, Yas Marina Circuit - Race 18/19

Yes he did. He really really did.

He scored 28 goals that season. Thats pretty much near his own record of 32 goals (I think).

Remember, most sports people will suffer a loss of form during a season. This is actually quite normal. You can't expect any sportsman to maintain top form, year after year, month after month. Its possible that Rooney went through a "slight" loss of form, as a matter of course. I'm not familiar with his personal life, so I can't really go in-depth, with regards to Rooney. I'm sure there are many people who live and breathe football, man utd and Rooney, so I wouldn't want to step on their area of expertise. ;)

Please name me another driver, who has basically fallen apart due to problems in his personal life.

James Hunt would probably be the best-known example? Champion in '76, spiralling down into drink, drug use and sex with anything in a short skirt. Mind you, he was already heavily involved in those even when he was winning....:D

Rooney's form dipped massively following injury and personal problems. I fully believe he went through a similar thing as Hamilton is now with the poor form at the WC, plus the whole wanting to leave Man Utd episode. He was also probably badly advised, and by the sounds of it Hamilton's current management aren't helping him out a great deal either.

Anyone who thinks an F1 driver can't be affected by life is delusional, also I'm not sure how many other drivers have had relationship breakups with long-standing partners or difficulties with their own father to deal with. Plus, lets not forget, Hamilton is in the spotlight more than any other driver even when things are going well. The pressure from everything on and off track has probably built up for several seasons to a point where he's effectively cracked, and now will probably find it easier to rebuild for next season because of it.

Anyway, FP2...

FP2 in 20 mins :)

What happened there flibster? Just caught the end of the story.

Natalie and Ted were getting into their BBC tech gear for the broadcast.

Ted was wearing shorts and sandals and was told to change out of the sandals. So he was going to change to boots, and as such had to put some trousers on.

Natalie turned her back to allow him some privacy and then they both got very wet.

The area where they were changing, was directly below Vettel's private room in the red bull facility. :D

Flappy Felipe returns.

For those not watching they've got Paul Hembrey from Pirelli in the comms box. Hes said that they're keeping the tyre colouring system again next year, but they're devising ways to make them more obvious. He's also said that they're testing a system (involving RFID I assume) where the type of tyre on the car is detected as the car leaves the pitlane, which will enable FOM to add the type of tyre the car is on to the on-screen graphics.

Oh my! :o

Can see the intake on the Merc front wing F-duct on the middle center of the nose. I think it was using air from the very front of the nose before?

Big lap from Alonso — not sure if the other guys are on the experimental softs or not though.

I'm watching with the sounds off. :p

*Edit* and Webber's spun it!
