Through grated teeth, congrats Nico.

Lewis was by far the better driver and if it were not for faulty machinery he would have won the championship.

Alas, this is the world of racing and things don't always go to plan.

I really liked Jake too. I'm curious why you think Jake was better though?

Honestly, I don't know, I just really enjoyed him as an F1 presenter. I think he was easier to get on with, to 'know', like you had a mate on the other side of the camera. Steve Jones doesn't quite have the easy-going instant likeability as Jake in my opinion, but they're not too different.

I suppose one advantage Jones has got is a few minutes of adverts every 15mins or so, so he's got a chance to take a breath and discuss what's happening in the next few minutes.

I have to say that I'm not as big of a fan of Humphrey now as I was back then. He's still a damn good presenter, but he doesn't seem to have the same chemistry on BT as he had with DC and Brundle, and he's lost a bit of his charm.

Couldn't care less who won. Glad the season is over, I really hope next season has more than one constructor challenging for the win.

I think RB are going to be busy bees over the winter and will mount a serious challenge next year. Spells of dominance usually fade away after 3 seasons and with such rule changes coming, Merc's time at the top could be over.

Well, another season has passed us by. I thought the race was pretty dull, enlivened only by Hamilton doing the only thing he could to in order to win both race and WDC. And for the fourth race in a row Rosberg did all he had to do - minimise risk and follow Hamilton home.

I don't buy into the conspiracy theories that Mercedes were telling Hamilton to push on so that they could guarantee Rosberg would take the title - I felt they were concerned about the pace of Vettel and didn't want to see the race win put at risk. I do think that Hamilton is putting his relationship with the team at breaking point, and listening to the reported comments now coming out about him threatening to quit after Barcelona things are clearly far from happy between them.

Nice to see a possible glimpse into the future with Jenson's Notebook - if he does turn his hand to presenting in the future I guess he'll be a little more sober!

You can see Hamiltons frustration, he's good enough to be given clear #1 status at pretty much any team. He is probably even more expectant of that after two titles on the trot for Mercedes but in his eyes they've favoured the lesser driver or at the very least not favoured Lewis the way he wants.

It must get frustrating when he sees drivers like Vettel and Alonso being treated as clear number one drivers whilst he struggles to get any sort of preferential treatment from his team.

Treated as a number one and Hamilton walks all three seasons with ease.

I agree with this. If it were not for his engines blowing and Nico having zero problems on his side Hamilton would have won it again.

Alas, this is the world of racing and things don't always go to plan.

Attempting to accept this. Fair play to Nico I guess, he did enough to win it. Anyone would be happy in his shoes so good on him. Lets see what next season brings.

The irony for me is that Lewis lost the dwc cos even when he was going as slowly as he could, the red bulls and Ferrari still couldn't over take.

It underlines that the car determines the drivers championship. If it were purely down to merit then surely Alonso and Vettel would have been in the mix. But hey, there is single chassis series for that.

He didn't give a monkeys at Mclaren when it happened in his favour. Uncle Ron signed Alonso and promised him no1 status and then went against it. That cost mclaren titles, I'm sure when Mercedes are no longer a second a lap faster than the rest of the pack they too will single out one driver.

I don't see how you can be frustrated when your car is on a different planet and your team mate couldn't be better if Hamilton hand picked him himself. They could have picked Rosberg as No1 in that car and he would walk 3 titles with ease, hell Massa could.

even Gutierrez. ;) any driver on the grid with that merc would have won 3 titles if they were designated no1 driver.

personally I would never hire a guy like Lewis, regardless how talented he may be. the guy is toxic in a team. the team is more important than the driver because they build the car that wins and drivers just need to walk it home. The car is irreplaceable, while Lewis isn't. At the end of the day, he is just an employee.

Problem for Lewis is that by creating discord at Mercedes he is running out of friends, because neither Red Bull nor Ferrari would ever hire him. Red Bull don't pay for talent and have loads of talented drivers in the pipeline. Ferrari is more important than any driver, they do not tolerate anyone talking down the car or the Ferrari name.

on that note I could see Ricciardo consider Ferrari in 2018 if the Prancing Horse improves next year. Ricciardo has been frustrated by bad strategy calls a few times this year (ie Barcelona, Monaco etc...). Furthermore, Ricciardo has the talent, the personality to be a great fit in that team, not to mention that he is as close to an Italian driver they will get in a Ferrari for the forseeable future. With Sainz as a replacement, I don't think Red Bull would feel like they would be compromised.

I'm pretty sure Sergio Marchionne has gone on record to say he wants Lewis in the team.

I'm in 100% agreement with this as having a unknown factor does spice the races up a lot.

according to vettel rosberg was impossible to get close to because he was in lewis' drs range...

so given that... in a way lewis could have made it easier for himself by pulling a bigger un-drs gap over rosberg thereby allowing vettel to get closer to rosberg and attempt a pass.

that pass could have resulted in a collision. which would have been lewis' last throw of the dice.

so in a way, backing nico up backfired on hamilton.

??? he may rate Lewis a talented driver, no one would argue that. But when has he said he wanted to hire Lewis?

in fact, he just recently said he is done paying through the nose in F1, certainly not suggesting he is willing to pick LH for the 100m it costs Mercedes http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/127044

Good job you are not an F1 team principal then, as you wouldn't be any good at it :p

Any team on the grid would snap up the chance to have Lewis in their team.

good job your opinions matters as much as mine.

I would rather spend the 100m on the car than the driver, there is plenty of talent out there that wouldn't cost nearly as much. would rather have a Paddy Lowe, Ross Brawn or Adrian Newey on my team over a LH any day of the week. Those guys aren't interested in drivers with egos, they want professional fast drivers that execute their master plan and no drama.

look how much Red Bull pay their drivers. when Vettel wanted more they said goodbye and good luck. whereas when Adrian wanted to take a break they said OK :( we will do as you want and will keep your seat warm when you come back ;)
