Good job you are not an F1 team principal then, as you wouldn't be any good at it :p

Any team on the grid would snap up the chance to have Lewis in their team.

Well neither Ferrari or red bull wanted him over what they already had when he was available for less than mclaren were already paying. Mercedes worked really well for him, I don't think the Italians would tolerate him for long.

Mercedes should take the Williams 90s approach and move him on if he doesn't like it. They hold all the aces and anyone, even alonso would sign for them for what rosberg gets.

We will have to wait the mid 2017 (Silly Season) to see if he stays at Mercedes or moves to Ferrari or to McLaren.

RB have their own agenda, as they have plenty of young drivers in their stable which they bring up through the ranks.

The thing is Mercedes like him not just for the fact that he's one of the best out there, but also because they want to get young people in their road cars. Young Hamilton fans, racing fans etc. They are all about brand promotion with the bonus of having the tech filter down to their road cars. They want to push the Mercedes brand and Lewis with his celebrity/social media lifestyle away from track is the perfect way to do this.

Even Bernie himself said it that Lewis has been one of their best champions purely for the amount of people he interacts with on social media, the high profile friends he takes to races etc. Means naff all to us guys on here as we probably couldn't give a toss who he brings to the race but at the end of the day its publicising Mercedes and F1. Granted he has the occasional special outburst but Mercedes obviously think he's worth it still or they wouldn't be throwing money at him.

Think of it this way, will the younger generation be more likely to buy a mercedes car or even think about buying a Mercedes car because Nico is driving it and promoting it?... Or if Lewis is? If most Germans are non plussed about Nico what chance has he got with any other nationalities?! :D

I can see him seeing out his career at Mercedes. I've never heard him mention Ferrari as a possible switch at all but i have heard him mention his music a lot.. So chances are, he'll retire earlier than most and go and do that? Probably see how easy the 4th championship will be to get and go from there. I doubt he's thinking of the MS 7!?

I feel for Lewis, as he's been pretty dominant this year when the car hasn't let him down. His breakdowns have been ridiculously bad luck, and each one has a knock on effect on the next race. Must be frustrating to know that even one less breakdown would have won him the title.

In the end Rosberg got the points, and the rules say he's the champion, whether he drove conservatively or not, but it's a shame that the only other driver with a car to beat him lost out due to so many car failures, and that we never saw any wheel to wheel racing between the two Mercedes.

I hope that next year brings in more competitive teams. I suspect both RB and Ferrari started on next years car early, but Ferrari has issues with their management not letting the team get on with building a winning car. I also think it's quite possible that with another rules shake-up, the ones that can adapt the best will be the ones that spend the most money - and that may well be Mercedes again.

No one will match Schumi's 7 WDC titles.

Interesting fact... if a driver won 5 races a season (which is a lot when one team isn't dominating), it would still take 18 seasons for them to get to 90 wins.

Ham and Vet are closest to the magic 7 as they each have 3 WDCs. Lewis is second on the all time wins list, so assuming they race for another 9 seasons I can't see either racking up 4 titles in 9 years which is what it would take to also beat the race wins record ^

That level of domination is gone. Hope he recovers :(

Epic trolling by Hamilton to back Rosberg up, just didn't do it enough in the last laps until too late.

Shame to see JB going after following his career and being a local lad but time to back Ric and Alo now :)

I don't buy into the conspiracy theories that Mercedes were telling Hamilton to push on so that they could guarantee Rosberg would take the title - I felt they were concerned about the pace of Vettel and didn't want to see the race win put at risk. I do think that Hamilton is putting his relationship with the team at breaking point, and listening to the reported comments now coming out about him threatening to quit after Barcelona things are clearly far from happy between them.

You don't keep your driver happy by delivering a car that keeps breaking down while his team mate's car runs fine. Pretty sure any top driver would be bitching about that, and that's down to Mercedes not doing their jobs.

If it had been Alonso driving for them, he would have ripped Mercedes a new one over the radio and in the press over and over. "Rumours of stress in the team" is pretty lightweight under the circumstances.

Vettel is best driver personality. I love him.

The only really interesting person other than Max. All the rest are like clones, boring, nothing intersting to say "for sure".

Also I thought Lewis was very gracious, and also Nico for understanding about his backing up. Hopefully the team will relax.

Seb has 4

Rosebery is not even that popular In Germany

Yeah the Germans haven't really taken a shine to him at all for some reason.

I think Hamilton was totally fine backing Rosberg up. Mercedes had the drivers and constructors champ sewn up either way, at least it made for a moderately interesting finish.

A few of the newspapers reporting this morning that Lewis could face a suspension for disobeying team orders.

One paper saying he could be sacked which is hilarious, anything to get readers I suppose.

How many young people are buying brand new mercedes? Or even their direct competitors cars? I'd also be curious to know what tech filters down onto road cars. I bet most of the materials , fasteners and techniques come directly from aerospace and not F1. I think current F1 with filtering down to road cars is a long gone view that people have clung to since flappy paddle gear shifts. :D
